The only thing I have found that kills them dead is rubbing alcohol! I pick them off and put them in it.
I have a bichon so it is very easy for me to see the ones on him but the big black beast is not so easy to pick at...

I am sure that cockroaches and fleas can survive and neuclear bomb!

When we were discussing the flea thing...
YULK I have fleas so bad in my house... I am almost desperate....
You scared the crap out of me!
My dog was at your house!

I checked Majick and found no sign of fleas. With his white fur and pink belly, I'm sure that I would see them if they were there. Nothing found.
Next I checked Bella. I had to use my best Greco-Roman wrestling maneauvers to subdue her and pin her to the mat. I never realized that her tail reached from her bum to between her eyes...from underneath. I didn't find any sign of fleas or nits.
Now I have to tackle Maggie and I think I'll need help from the Lion's Offensive Line to pin her down.

Majick was only inside for the bath and went straight back out for the blowdry... I knew he had no fleas on him when he left! I can see EVERYTHING when I blowdry!
And I did not have this issue when the girls were here.
It is pretty recent that it has exploded! Within the last 2-3 weeks.

I hope we are over the mountain and headed on the way down after all that work I put into cleaning and picking!

I will continue picking and bathing and frontline until it is over, I guess.

RaZ you reminded me of a joke:

An elderly man is at the doctors and the doctor says
"I see you are here for your check up! I will need a blood sample, a urine sample, and a stool sample."
The elderly man had very poor hearing at this point and looked to his wife for clarification.
"EH?"
"HE SAID HE NES YOUR UNDERWEAR!"

YOU said I scared tohe poo out of you...
Your fault!

How about:

A proctologist was giving a lecture to a group of college students when one of the students interrupted him
"Sir, why do you have a rectal thermometer behind your ear?"
The proc checked and exclaimed
"What? DANG IT SOME AWHOLE STOLE MY PEN!"

No, local ordinance is trumped by state law, just as state law is trumped by federal law.
If the GAAMPs get changed as proposed, that means that your city or township can make you get rid of your birds if they want to. Even if you are currently allowed to have them.

If you are still confused, PM me your phone number and I can walk you though it in plain language. That may be easier than typing out the years of legalities.
In one of my latest poultry magazines it listed the states which had cities that let you have chickens, the state that had the most was California!! I think the number was 17 cities and Michigan only had one!! Now that's crazy.

YULK I have fleas so bad in my house... I am almost desperate....

I have put frontline on them (for 4 months straight now)
I have bathed
I have hand picked with tweezers
I have vacuumed
I have steam cleaned
I have used tea tree and eucalyptus
I have sprinkled Borax
I wanted to try putting a light over a dish of water at night, but the fire risk does not seem worth MAYBE catching a few fleas.

I have no idea what to do next...

And they are only going to get worse when the ones outside start breeding in all the dead leaves this fall.
I DO NOT WANT TO BOMB!!!

Do guineas eat fleas? I might just get a few house guineas...

PS I would like to state that Borax does not kill fleas. Not right away, not within hours. In fact, they will even burrow in it. I have 2 in a container with borax... they are still alive from this afternoon.

I had fleas sooooooo bad I had to use a spray for the carpet and of course take care of them on the pets I use advantix on my dog it even prevents heartworm. My husband gets this spray from work for the yard and kills all the bugs and keeps them away for a while because here in the woods the skeeters can get bad. I used the light over a soapy water dish at night it works you only need a nite lite
