Does anyone know whats up with the underlined "key words" in our posts now....... I HATE those cause I've gotten that virus crap from them on several occasions! You know the one where they give you some mal ware virus and want you to down load their removal program...errrrrrrr!

. What it is, is someone downloaded a new program, could have been something little, and what it does is tag words, and those words will then lead you to advertisements..

x 2........Yup, 'fraid so. I got it here after DH downloaded one of those computer games. He had to search and search for it, it wasn't labled as a virus because technically he "signed" for it! It had one of those number and letter names, found it in the files somewhere. I can ask him later if you need me to? I myself am no good at that stuff. That stuff is REALLY annoying!

There were quite a few people at the Ag meeting today to specifically address the proposed GAAMP changes.

The commissioners are getting familiar with some of us and our mission. I am not quite sure what some of them think of us backyard farmers, but overall I think that they recognize that we are a group with needs that should be addressed. It was mentioned that perhaps some GAAMPs relating to small operations be explored.

Counterpoint to that were comments made by Jim Johnson and Wayne Whitman who said that new GAAMPs would be too difficult to create for small operations. Commissioner Don Coe suggested that a task force could be formed to look into this.

It would be in our common interest to write to the MDARD and ask them to table the proposed changes to the site GAMMPs for this year until a better, more comprehensive proposal can be drafted that protects us small operations from local restrictions.

I'll post more once I gather and organize my notes.

Botulism is not a mold byproduct, it is the toxin produced by the bacteria Clostridium botulinum. Botulism grows best in oxygen-deprived surroundings, which is why it grows well in canned foods that are not processed properly. The toxin is odorless and tasteless. It causes flaccid paralysis, and kills by paralyzing the breathing muscles.

Certain molds can produce aflatoxins, which affect the nervous system leading to tremors, seizures, and other nervous system signs.

I heard also that if we feed moldy feed to our chickens, they can breathe it and develop lung problems!

A quick look at th extended forecast didn't look to bad. That is if you find cold temperatures and snow acceptable. Oh well the warm weather is only about 170 days away. That's not even 6 months away. We can do that easy.

Just looked outside at the chicken coop and the lights are on. Setting the digital timer is much more difficult than one would think. You have to set the year, month, day, time zone, daylight savings time, then the number of events, time of the events, frequency of event, and function. Make one error and you must unplug it and start all over. It surely does test ones ability to not get frustrated.

My apologies to Wynett, who also did a superb job speaking at the meeting, I came home and discussed with DH then tried to read the GAAMPS, AGAIN and I still see it as a real hinderance to most small farmers, even though even though some tried to convince us it wouldn't affect us. I guess because the "intent" is aimed at the lg. corporations. Problem is Intentions don't really matter it is what is written in black and white that counts. The 1/4 mile between animal housing and a neighbors property line can stop a lot of would be animal owners from enjoying live stock even those with 80 acres. that and having 5 or fewer non farm homes with in a 1/4 of a mile. That would put me out even with my little 12 acres. would eliminate all residential owners and give those against us ammunition. ...

All of you can E-mail the sight Raz has put up with a short comment asking to pleas table the changes in the GAAMPS for this yr.

Does not need to be long, well informed ,full of facts E-mail, (that is what took me so long the first time to E........ didn't know what to say.....so just say what Raz said," please table GAAMPS for this yr. until a more comprehensive proposal can be drafted;; that protects small operations from local restrictions"

setting a timer isn't that hard, just get a simple one with one function, on and off.....course you have to get and the light in to the coop and run. (which I haven't done yet) todays job,that and hanging one more tarp

I sent my letter to MDARD. Thanks again to everyone who goes to fight for our right to provide for ourselves. I'd like to get more involved with defending my own right to farm, even if it is just my backyard garden and a fruit tree in a pot. Does anyone have a suggestion on how to get started?
