Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

I think Shrek stayed alive not being shorn because a coyote or wolf would have choked to death on the wool if they tried to eat him. Probably eating and pooing was all he was able to do.

So my hubby is pestering me for some Christmas gift ideas, and I've been craving non-computer reading materials. (Nothing is quite like the feel of a book in your hands and that paper smell... mmmm... Can that stuff and I'll buy it over any other foo foo hicky doodle scent out there!)

I've added the books that were suggested to me earlier in this thread (The Backyard Homestead pair) and I was hoping others here might have some suggestions for me. I'm looking for books on the following topics: Self sustaining living, 4 season veggie gardens, chicken care ( of course! ), herb lore, and cookbooks that teach you how to make a bunch of interesting stuff, like homemade beer and cheeses and jams.

I'd love to hear any suggested reading anyone has to share, and why you liked it/recommend it.

I PM'd Babigyrl since she had not been on in a while, and she said to let you all know that she has been 1. Pregnant, 2. With Twins, and 3. Not feeling so great due to morning sickness, growing pains and working all day leaving her tired. Yay for her though!
Babigyrl!!!!!Congrats!!! TWINS!!! YAY!!!
That is going to be a lot of work and you will have twice the happy moments too!!!

I think I did something good/bad... A friend of my mom asked me to find a home for someones dog. They are taking him to the shelter tomorrow.
I don't know if there is anything wrong with him... he looks sweet!
Baxter a brussels griffon... 9 years old... not fixed male

What am I going to do with another dog??? I told her to get him and we would find a home for the poor guy!

BYFM - you did a GREAT THING!

Babigyrl - Congratulations!!

I love the angora goat! I would love pygora! I really want an angora bunny someday too! What type of goat do you get cashmere from? I really want some Merino sheep one day...and Blue Faced Leceister...and a few Alpaca's...you can't tell I'm a knitter/crocheter can you? lol! That Merino sheep is hilarious! I can't believe he got away with hiding for that long! lol!

Just got back from voting...I was one of the last people for our precinct...number 1362...not bad for our small village/township (and there are two precincts.)

I had a rather interesting day...my 2 year old let my dog out without me knowing...and he ran away...so I was late going to swap because I was trying to find him...luckily our neighbor down the road found him! When I got to swap everyone who was supposed to buy from me was gone...I had to take my kids to the smokehouse with me to get meat, which was interesting...they went from rotten to angels, to average in a matter of minutes! lol! Then I found out I won a Kindle Fire from one of the drawings at the conference I went to! Woot! Then I had cheer tryouts, day 2, and they went great...but all my girls are moving up. but they are all very good and deserve it...makes me proud....then I tried to stop for hot dog buns on the way home and couldn't find my wallet, and then tried to vote but couldn't find the polls...so I went home, and we all headed out together, found the polls (it's our first time voting since we moved) and got hot dog buns! Phew! Now the kids are finishing up dinner so they can go to BED! I have some work to do on the computer, and some customs, so I'm hoping I can get everything done in a couple hours.

Oh and my girls have completely stopped laying. :( My ducks layed their first eggs and they haven't laid since and my Isa was laying an egg a day, she completely stopped, and for some reason my light in my coop isn't working, so I'll have to look into that tomorrow. :/

Oh! He is so sweet! I love Brussels Griffon's! You did a very good thing! :D

I should really refresh the page before I reply! Congrats babygirl!!! That is awesome!!!

Ellyssia (sorry if I totally butchered that) You probably won't learn a lot from it if you've already read other chicken books, but I really liked the book "Chick Days." It's just fun, and entertaining. :)
