Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Some people just shoot at whatever... people get shot in the woods (and out) all the time...
I would just to be safe!

No deer would ever catch me by the coffee... LOL

I just finished a good read if anyone is looking for one. "Enslaved by Ducks" by Bob Tarte. A Michigan man from Howell and the menagerie they live with. I kept thinking if I substituted "chicken" for "duck" throughout the book it could have fit some things that happen around here.

Good luck to everyone hunting tomorrow. My guys are headed out and I have the riffle at the back window just in case a big buck wanders through. Most of my day will be spent preparing for the chili cook off. My son is very proud of his and it is definitely different, including ingredients like cinnamon, honey, and cocoa powder.

What a great title!!!

http://www.tractorsupply.com/farm-innovators-heated-poultry-fount-3-gal--1011128 I think I got ours up at the Cedar Springs TSC. I just started it up yesterday and it is working great. You fill through a plugged hole in the bottom though, not through the top so you do have to remove it to fill. Let me know if you find a top fill heated waterer, as I might be interested in that if mine ever dies. I need to drive up to your feed store today to find something to feed my birds. They are all 5-8 months old and none of them are laying, but they probably should not be on the medicated chick starter at this point. Going to try to find something without calcium for them until they start laying in the Spring.

Here's my buck! And I didn't even have to leave the house for it!

The story is this morning about 8 a doe was in the middle of the field. The buck came out after her. I shot out the basement window with my DH's 308. He kinda walked away and I was sure he was going to go down. He walked behind a pine and I couldn't see him. Then I see him come out into a swampy area. The doe followed him and I watched him breed her in sight of the house but in a spot I couldn't shoot. So I called DH and told him I missed. I was so mad it was an easy shot and close. When DH got home I walked out to have a look and found my deer in the field behind the pine tree. So there were two bucks and I just thought I missed.
