Well...I've been working on painting them for quite a while now, but I did just post pics today.

I did not paint the ones with words. The words came from a scrapbooking rub-on sheet thingy.
I am going to seal them eventually. I've been asking people what I should use here , since I don't want to ruin the designs.

So we'll see how things go....

KrazyKritterGirl!
Vicki, i am glad you are feeling better.

My brother in law was visiting again this weekend. While he was here he had his truck in the garage working on it and Elliott decided to join him in the cab of the truck. Needless to say BIL wants to take Elliott home with him, he was very surprised at how calm Elliott is.

Welcome to the newbies!!!!

Cwhit, those eggs are beautiful!!! And I love the pics of all the babies in their costumes. Too cute!

To answer those of you who asked about the yaks... We raise them for meat and fiber. They are bovine creatures, bos grunniens to be exact. They do not moo-they grunt. Their meat tastes just like beef, since they are beef cattle. The difference is that their fat layer develops on the outside rather than marbleizing in the meat itself. We are the second yak ranch in Michigan, and plan to sell our meat to high-end restaurants, athletes and heart patients. The chemical makeup of the meat makes it even healthier than fish or skinless chicken.

Their wooly underlayer molts in the Spring. We will brush it out and sell it to spinners, who prize it. The microfibre count is compared to cashmere, and it does not generate static while spinning. The outer layer is long and waterproof. It is used in human hair extensions and wigs. Most clown wigs are made of yak hair. It is also used in making fly fishing lures.

cwhit0--Those eggs are so nice. I loved the etched one. very very nice.
Welcome KKG. You will find it very interesting here.

Have a great week everyone. I am going back to work tomorrow, so I will not be here much. I will check in a couple times a week. I am sure going to miss you all.

That is awesome YakLady! You guys are onto something there....do you have a good market for yak products at the moment? There is a family farm around here that raises bison for meat, and as soon as they have meat available they sell out FAST! We just stopped by this weekend and picked up some frozen patties.

i think i just always looked at it like this....i never wanted to be 'that house' that gave out the cheap stuff! and i always remembered the houses that gave out the full sized candy bars when i was a kid, so i just did the same but upped the ante. it's only once a year. there is going to be one kid that remembers getting a nerds rope, hershey's bar, pack of gum, air head and a bag of chips all at once somewhere when he's like 30 and smile. that's all worth it!

the other cool thing is that i would have a stream of them at my house to get their make up done for their costumes too. they would make appts and i would have a steady line up. it would be down to the wire until i had time for my own self and my kids! i love that i can do that and help them feel 'cool'. how awesome.

have a great night everyone!!!!

Yesterday was a busy day. I mowed and the got all the leaves picked up. A couple of years ago I didn't and was my yard ever a mess when spring came. With the weatherman predicting snow I'm glad it's done.
