Good brisk morning!

Had to toss on an extra blanket lastnight! I did not want to get out of my warm bed at 5:00 this morning.... Brrrrrrrrr!

Today it's vet day. Quite a production getting 4 mastiffs to the vet at the same time. It's a 2 person job. All got baths yesterday so my backs a bit sore (can't wait to get the raised tub finished).

Then I have to gather up all my extra roos for freezer camp. It's hard to decide which one's to send away. My DSIL is taking hers in for processing, so she's going to take mine in for me too.

Wednesday we're finalizing plans for my parents 50th anniversary party for the following weekend.

How did everyone fair the storms? We were at a gig sat night with my DH's band.... lots of tornado warnings out there... we had to pack up all that equipment when it was pouring rain!

If that's the case, the vultures should leave you alone today

Good Morning!

I had to wear a sweat shirt and a spring coat to bike this morning. Left the heat lamp on my 1 month old chicks, too chilly this morning to leave off for the whole day.

Have a great day! I cannot wait for Saturday! Glad to be getting rid of what has worn out their welcome and hopefully add something to the mix

I am so ready for Saturday hoping to be there early to set up and hope that everyone brings spare cages. I know that I have to.

Last Saturday went to my 20 yr. class reunion glad I went great to see old friends and have and have new laughs.

Hi fellow Michiganders. Had a bit of a rough start this morning...Hubby came running up to the house with one of the chanteclers we got from Shelleyb1969 in his arms while I was getting ready to go to work. It appears that while flying up to one of the outdoor roosting poles in their run this morning she hit is just wrong and broke her neck. She died in his arms with me supporting her head and petting her while we were trying to figure out how best to deal with the situation. We are both super sad today. She was a real sweetie. RIP Valentine.

Looking forward to Chickenstock this weekend. Hopefully that will cheer us up.

Hey, there!

Welcome to the newbies-I hope we get to meet you at Chicken Stock. Bluezip, I'm sure if you bring a few peacocks someone will end up buying them.

So sorry to hear of the losses. That's just awful when that happens. We think we've figured out what got our drake and adolescent ducklings several days ago. Yesterday afternoon, we were out working in the pasture and heard an awful shrieking coming from the creek. We looked up in the sky to see a blue heron chasing a mallard and biting at its tail. When we came inside, my husband googled the question "Do blue herons eat ducks", and actually pulled up several videos. The darned things apparently push their victims' heads in the water to drown them, and then gulp them down whole. That would explain why I never found any sign of a commotion, or feathers or tracks. I had no idea that herons eat ducks. Time to get out the gun, because it looks like that thing has taken up residence by the creek.

That is freaky! I have always liked blue herons so much... It makes me uncomfortable when animals eat things they seemingly shouldn't. Like I am quite sure the red tailed hawk that got our call ducks got the neighbor's chihuahua as well. Poor thing.
