omg that's devastating!! I can't imagine that!! My prayers go out to them as they recover from something like that. I'm a HUGE duck fan, so it just breaks my heart.

Speaking of which, I'm patiently waiting for Kim's brother to get here with her out of control duck lol. She said one of the other two I got from her was too loud. She isn't here!

Kim -

He's arrived safely. I put him in with the others and walked out with your brother, but I wanted to see Jax again (it's like an exciting new toy!) so I went back with the camera and watched. I can already see how things are gonna go. Jax tried to grab a couple of chickens, but right away my king, a tiny little Serama jumped off the roost and went after him. Your brother will tell you the cutest part was how Opie and Jax and Sadie were acting like they remembered each other! But, that was short lived because Opie spent the rest of the time we were in there following Jax around making sure he didn't get near anyone. Then the other ducks started doing the same.

He's in good hands. For the short time he'll be with the chickens per day, he's gonna get a taste of his own medicine!!!

Now I'm tired. We totally cleaned out the barn, re-strawed it (with a little hay in there thanks to a truck that dropped 3 bales on the road!) and cleaned up the run. Tomorrow we have to bail out the duck pond since our pump finally died (it was pretty old anyway) and we won't have money for a new one til next month...hopefully. It's nice to finally be feeling well enough to work around here. I've been so terrible the last month and I've felt pretty useless! Now if only I could find a paying job of some sort!

Hope everyone had a great day!

Thanks Kate! Now you need to give him some of his own 'girls. *sniff* Its bittersweet, because he was my first baby- but my chickens were relaxed yesterday, after I trapped him in my bathroom. No more stress. I know you will take good care of him. I am sure my Quackers will be fine, because my male Muscovy has claimed her as his anyhow. He was an Easter baby so he will be a year old next Easter.

My husband is going to be upset with me, but he will get over it. He is due to come home this evening some time. It has been a great weekend. I took the kids to the cider mill, then got lost on the way home, then I managed to run out of gas on the side of 94! Had to wait for roadside service to rescue me and the kids. I really thought I had more gas. I miscalculated my guess. I dont have a working dashboard- so no gas gauge or odometer or speedometer for that matter. Good thing I married a mechanic, huh? Its been like this for over a year.

I took today off- pre-planned it because my husband is coming home. I want to get all the laundry finished, house cleaned , and leaves raked. So, that is my plan for the day. Hope everyone has a great day!

Good Morning! Was a great week end, weatherwise. Hubby and I tore apart our front porch. Was getting tired of painting it every year and replacing warped boards. Replacing with composit. Should be easy to wash off the chicken droppings also

What breeds of chickens did they lose? When they decide to rebuild (assuming they are) are they going to want chickens, chicks or hatching eggs? Maybe some of us can help donate a bird here or there to help them with their loss!

Good Morning Everyone,

This week I think I need to join the number of people that are getting the last of there outdoor stuff done before the snow starts to fly.

I just wanted to let you know that your Sussex Rooster that I have named Splash is starting to feel at home. My Sussex hen Squirt still don't want anything to do with him. She is so enamored with my EE Rooster Black Pearl. Going to have to move Black Pearl.

Hope everyone has a happily productive day.

My daughter Rachel is looking to sell a trio of Vorwerk bantams. They are all from Opa's pair. The cockeral was won at Chickenstock and the pullets were hatched August 8. So there is about a 3 month age difference between the boy and girls.

We will get pictures today and post this afternoon.

Glad to hear he's settling in! My roo's are starting to try to force themselves on the hens and the hens are giving them a pretty good fight about it!

I keep going out there every day and checking the boxes for eggs and talking to them about the importance of eggs if they want to keep breathing!

I think they know I'm full of it and they just cluck at me and wait for food and goodies!
