Did they have a lot? Looks like we'll have to go there too.

The piglet's enclosure is almost done. Tomorrow we should start on the run. I hate just calling her "the piglet". I'm still having a hard time with names which is unusual for me lol.

Graduated the red chicks to a set up in the barn. Man those things grew FAST! The Wyandottes graduated with them. They aren't near as big as the reds but they're big Then there's the Orpingtons who are still really tiny yet who still get to stay with me on the porch

I FINALLY ordered an incubator. Found a brand new Hovabator (the only I used when I bred and raised reptiles) for $28 with free shipping! Gotta love ebay!

It's official, SHE HAS A NAME!!

After a facebook poll and a few other comments here and there, then putting names in a hat, her name is Isabella (Bella for short). I almost went with Eve because she was born on Christmas Eve thanks to a suggestion from Kim (aka Mom2EmAll). SO, to solve that, her offical name is Isabella Eve

Ok, maybe I'm crazy lol

You are quite a drive...but CHICKENSTOCK is really not that far away...If you see one at a swap that you go to, closer to Chickenstock, and want to pick one up for me and bring it to Chickenstock, that would be great. I wouldnt expect anyone to pick anything up this far from the Chickenstock date though.

I have SIX silkie eggs coming. I swore that I was DONE DONE DONE incubating this year...but I am going to move my incubator to a different location- just in case ventilation was my problem- and try again. *sigh* I wont count my chickens before they hatch though.

And then, if I can get anything to hatch- I will order more of those o-shamo and try again.

Rain rain rain out there- My drake would probably enjoy it more if two of his girls werent broody. Muscovy babies for Chicken stock!

Keyt: Isabella Eve is a beautiful name!

Jen your children are precious...they really are! That is quite a big barn...all for rabbits?? You must have a LOT of bunnies!

Keyt...love the name "bella"...we name our chocolate lab years ago...bella.

Isn't it great to see the snow vanishing?? My tulips are emerging and as the snow goes...I see that I did NOT clean up my flower beds last fall! I don't know what I was thinking..or not evidently. So I have to get out and cut off all the dead stuff..clean out the leaves....looks really bad. On a high note....I put 24 Orpington hatch eggs in the bator last night! My hubby finished his new rabbit homes last week...we have 3...they are his and really cute. A lop that is brown, another white and brown with ears that look like propellers on a plane...think it is a cross...and a big white boy with brown on ears and pink eyes. We have never done rabbits before but they sure are cute.
I talked to the man I''m getting my coops from...he is near Grand rapids and is behind in his orders so might get them in a week. Did anybody see the post about 4 days ago on "peeper halloween lights" being used as a predator deterrant? I bought 3 strings of them....the person posting said she puts them about a foot or two off the ground around the coop or run and has it on a dusk to dawn timer...it helps scare away predators. So...I have my coop with fencing buried around the base and the run is completly enclosed and we are fencing off the entire coops area soon and putting up these lights. I have only had the one raccoon incident and they didn't get into the run or coop...they got into a 5X4X4 enclosed pen we'd built years ago. The fact that the coons got into that pen still worries me so I'm adding the lights. If you find the original post...it shows a picture of the evil eyes flashing. Seems like it would help...what do you think?

Well, I hate to admit it -- because it's still not nearly as wet here as it usually would be this time of year -- but I was glad to see the rain go south of us for the most part last night/this morning. I have way too much to do outside and the mud complicates things when you're constantly working on a hill.

The weather is so nice lately and the "long range" forecast looks so promising. It's making it much too tempting to stretch the season in the garden. With nighttime temps not breaking below the high 30s.... *rubs hands together* .... oh the things I could plant. But you know, the second I do we'll get a hard freeze. Especially since we're not usually out of the woods for one for another whole month.
