Hey everybody-
Sounds like everyone had a great day.

Welcome to stoneheartfarm!

I heard a rumor it is going to get warm this weekend! Hope it doesn't give us spring fever even more.

My beautiful Dom. rooster came at me today, maybe he is just feeling cooped up. I hope so, he is so pretty, it would be a shame to make soup out of him.

But with all the kids around here, I would be up with any meanies!

I am going to curl up and relax for a while.
Good Night All!

you're welcome. they are a blessing to you and you to them. life is grand!

I used one of those chickbators, I got it from strombergs with some free bobwhite eggs, I did manage to hatch one. But it was my first time trying to incubate so it could have been just me. but 1 did hatch, so that has to be a little positive thing about it:p

I'm sitting here drinking coffee and thinking about going out to check on the girls. Today looks like another dangerously cold day. It's -10 and I hate to even think about the chill factor. Yesterday was another dozen egg day which is still exciting. Yesterday was a great day for Granny. Two of my brothers were here for lunch and that always brightens here day. I bought here an exercise bike and she has been getting on it for 10 minutes 3 or 4 times a day. I think the added exercise and the stretching of her legs will help her mobility. Well everyone stay safe and warm.

Good Morning All-

Im drinking my coffee, mentally complaining about the darn weather- and trying to get up the courage to go up in the attic and check my roof for leaks. I already complained about it in the Incubating thread, so i won't repeat it all here-
...
Anyhooo....Im sure my chickens are very upset about this cold. i am so tired of it- and would love to relocate south somewhere. Just not too south, I cant handle the high heat anymore than I can handle the cold. Thats just a dream anyhow, my husband would never move anywhere.

Today, I am going to give my parrots showers, and clean their cages. I have a very expensive air purifier coming either today in the mail, or tomorrow. i think I should give it a fair start, and clear up some of this feather dust. Hopefully, I will be able to breathe better once it is all gone.

Hope you all have a wonderful day. Oops forgot, I have to head out to Tractor Supply for a new incubator. I will do that soon as I drop the youngest kid off at school.

stay warm and safe all!

Opa...so glad to see that Granny is becoming more mobile and in good spirits!

Mornin' All-
I can tell you for sure that it is nasty cold out there. I went out with wet hair at 6 to water the girls before the baby got here and my hair froze stiff!

Just made a second pot of coffee and am ready to face the day.

On the chickbator- I read an article in Backyard Poultry that used an electric fry pan as an incubator. Might be worth a try.

Early this morning - 4:30ish, my girls were raising cain so I went to check on them. Boy I hoped it wasn't something after them; dogs weren't going crazy tho. When I got to the coop, I could hear it running around in the pen??? It was a cottontail that got stuck in there. Must have been eating the hay and leftovers in the run. Looks like I've got a stew for supper. Yummy!! Have a good day everyone:)
