I am thinking it might be a fox. We did loose a chicken to a red fox about a week ago, but we scared her off before she could take it. I am thinking that it was the fox. When I get home I am going to check for signs out in the back.

Bubba that is so sad about your flock. I agree with opa and others. A dog wil keep killing chickens and just leave them lying, while a fox takes what it kills away. Members of the weasle family wil also kill like that, but not during daylight hours.

Fife best of luck to your husband,

So sorry, Bubba! What a terrible thing to come upon.
Fife, prayers being said for your hubby. Hope all turns out well.
Man, it's hot out there. Muggy as heck. Have a heat advisory now. What do you do for that? Stay in the air conditioned house! Feel sorry for the chickens, tho. Not much we can do for them. At least the ducks can cool off in the water. I have so much yard work to do, and still can't do anything.
All be careful of what you do today. Stay cool.

Yes it is warm today but I am saved by a well airconditioned office building. The forecast calls for more rain this afternoon but I am hoping that will blow over or wait until I have my fill of playing in the dirt.

Sorry to hear about your birds. Most likely it was a dog(s) that killed the chickens. Unfortunately they are a poultry keepers worse enemy IMO. I wouldn't trust any dog around my birds. They will kill and just keep killing almost as if it were a game to them. They don't have to be hungry to do so. They see those birds as a game or something. Fox will normally carry their kills off with them. A raccoon will maul their prey on site.

Hi Cricket, glad you have POWER!!
I've had no internet since last Tuesday, but finally back on. Still can't figger out how to put pictures up.
I got 2 young Pekin ducks last Thursday night, still no chickens, but having alot fo fun with the ducks. I think they're about 2 months old.

Glad to hear you have your power back Cricket!

What products do people here use to worm their chickens? Curious. I have a product called Wazine that I purchased from TSC but haven't used it yet.

You can't post pictures yet because you are considered new (I guess it stops spammers). Once you have enough posts (which is determined by their system) then you can have a profile and post pictures. See here: https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?pid=1198

Hope
that helps!

I get it, just gotta get on more and talk alot!! Well, shouldn't be too hard, now that I got something to talk about!!
