You all eaten that poor possum and giving him that bad rap of disease filled. He is just poor little ugly thing. We have 3 at the rehab that people raised litter trained and all silly people learned even litter trained possums don't smell so good.

take either the venison or chicken, leave it whole. add 1 bottle of your favorite BBQ sauce and put it on low.

when ready to serve, strip and shred the meat. pulled venison or chicken sandwiches. easy breezy. or over baked potatoes. also good wrapped in tortillas with toppings. kid friendly.

super fast, super easy clean up. hope it's helpful.

During the early days of the Great Depression my father was still living with his parents. One task he and a younger brother were assigned was catching possums. They would bring them home in a sack, place them in a cage, and then feed them "clean" food for a week before eating them. Since opossums are carrion eaters, it was thought that you needed to feed them out to make them fit to eat. I hope we never have to depend on eating possums because I don't think that there is anything that you could feed them to make me quit thinking big greasy looking RAT.

That sounds so good! Also, venison roast or beef smothered in horseradish and slow cookes all day is wonderful

Hello everyone. I'm still making my way through some of the different topics here, so I'm just getting around to introducing myself on this one. I'm a country girl living in northern Michigan. I've had chickens in the past, but this is my first year with ducks. I say first year, I got them last spring so it has been my first winter anyway. I just wanted a few laying hens for eggs, my daughter talked me into getting some ducks. What a hoot!! They are so funny. I'm trying to keep myself under control, but deep down inside I'm planning on getting more birds this spring. I also have horses, a rabbit and of course cats and dogs. I've decided I'll have to learn to pace myself on this forum, any free minute I get I log on and see what I can read up on. My daughter just laughs at me. You know, teenagers....she can't imagine I hang out on the computer talking about chickens!

We are finally getting some much needed sunshine and warmer weather up here. Still plenty of snow, no sign of grass yet. Me and the animals all appreciate every ounce of hope for spring we can get.

Speaking of sunshine, warm weather and animals, that means I have work to do outside. Anytime I can go out and shovel manure I'm happy.

they are my favorite to rehab- the easiest...and no worries about them bonding to humans, they hate people no matter how young you get them.

Ive got my cans of esbilac in the pantry, cages ready for the spring phone calls. Baby bunnies are my least favorite rehab- I have the worst luck with them. I can get em to "almost ready, need one more week before they can be released"..then many of them die on me.

My family loves BBQ sauce though, so that will work for a meal- and I will have to scrounge something else for myself.

Thanks!

Welcome FowlMood- teenagers..blah. I have a teenage son and a barely-teenage daughter....so far, son is harder to deal with....once I accepted my daughters foot-stomping-cry at the drop of a hat moodswings, well..she's been pretty easy.

Oh you should see these three they think they are cats boy I was ticked when they came in if I didn't feel so bad for them cross eyed from to much protine and no veggies or fruits I would have sent them right back with them a shame to tame them like that.
Baby bunnies that is a handful we tube feed them and our "bunny queen" makes a special makes for them we have a great survival rate. I specialize in squirrels thou I get to do them all even ones that freak me out (hawks)

I was very excited not to have any fall baby squirrels to have to over-winter this year...

Won't be long though, and it will be spring baby season... and mallard babies. I don't do the ducks anymore though- not since my hubby decided he needed a duck dog. Cant rehab what he hunts- he paces in front of their yard all day, even when threatened...and cries.
