Thanks for the recipe, those were the best I have had for ages. Loved the milk chocolate chips. Would not dare freeze any though, it would all be gobbled up way too fast. By me. I will get some chick pics uploaded as soon as I have a chance, they are such a pretty mixed batch of banties.

Keyt, I am sorry to hear about your duck, it is easy to get close to the special ones. We probably were close to your house, we were supposed to go to Howe park but had directions to the ball fields across from the school, so ran around town for a while until we got it right.

Ahh, playground of dreams! Yup that's not far either. Then again, ER isn't that big lol. I drive by the ball fields on State Street/Plains Rd (same rd, state street turns into plains which is what my address is) all the time. Hope the game was good!

lol yeah, that's why I'm so glad we have well water. This weekend we're totally rebuilding the pond, make it one huge one with mortar and 3x the current size. I can't wait!!! Now all I need is a working pump, but that's a LONG time down the road!

It was nice to meet you at Chicken Stock. I plopped my yellow chicken purse on your table as my DH helped herd your flock back to the yard. I don't know where you are in SE MI but we can help straighten your fool neighbor out! Get a motor cycle and run around the yard at 10pm! Just kidding she is lucky all you have are small animals. I lived in the D for awhile and there are much worse neighbors than people with birds! P.S. MOve to Ortonville

HotW,
I don't think I thanked your DH for the help. It happened earlier as well, and I'm not sure I thanked the folks that helped then.
I feel bad if I forgot to say thank you to anybody who aided me when the birds got out of my makeshift pen.
In my defense, I was enjoying the mud as much as those silly ducks.

I do appreciate the help of folks who helped me even if I didn't say so at the time.

As far as the motorcycle, I already have one and maybe that's why she mad...I haven't taken her for a ride!

Got new chicks for the Harley...

I finally came up with the names of the banty frizzle and birchin; Liliana and Morrigan.  I know….tough work.

They are all doing really well. I’ve let the banties gallivant in the front yard. I am sure my neighbors were wondering what I was following around (they are so small). Heh heh My neighbors girls (3 & 4 years) LOVE them. When I got home today they were running over to my house with their father in tow yelling that they wanted to see the “cute baby chickens”! (my greatest ammo for my semi-illegal flock)…cute birds + cute young kids + free eggs = leverage. HAHAHAHAHAHA *raises eyebrow*

My father came to visit and he spent the whole time here taking pictures of the girls. He thought it was so cool that we had chickens. It reminded him of his younger years on the farm. He even took some eggs home for my grandmother. He was worried that he was taking too much but I had to remind him that we get eggs EVERDAY…even from the 4 (now 6) layers. too funny

We had the Jersey Giant chicks. We're in Casco Twp., which is in St. Clair County, about 30 minutes south of Port Huron, if anyone still wants any. We're not hatching any more this season, but I'm thinking we have about 20 or so left.

Penelope sleeping with you tonight?

nope! I brought Henry in night before last and set him and Penelope up in the utility room. Neighbors were letting off fireworks and they were scaring the geese so much. Tucked them in the utility room, sat in there on the floor FOREVER with them, and finally told them goodnight, I was going to bed.

Woke up in the morning and they were inseparable. Since I took them both outside yesterday morning, they have followed each other everywhere- Henry is the great protector. IF Penelope squeals, Henry spreads his wings and comes RUNNING across the pen toward whatever scared her (chicken, dog, hose, bug...) If Henry wanders off too far, Penelope goes running over to where he is...and they are in constant chatter between each other ..goose whispering, I call it. Those little sounds...
smile.png
They spent the night outside- I just went and checked on them, and I cant see them but they made their goose whisper sounds to tell me it was still dark and I had disturbed their sleep.

Kayla spends most of her time out there with them. It was very cute yesterday because my next door neighbor has a swimming pool, and it is clearly visible from my yard. They invited her to come swim. Henry and Penelope were right next to the fence watching Kayla over there swimming in the pool and when I walked outside they started tellling me the whole story- about how that pool is bigger than hers, and Kayla was in the wrong yard...how they dissapproved of the whole situation...

How did you do at the rabbit show?

Did you sell the other bunny? My coworker is superduper in love with "Nestor". She told me she wanted the other one. Actually she told me she wanted ours and I told her you had another one that didnt sell. She said, "Why didnt you get it for me?" I told her I left my psychic powers at home that day.

Do you use water bottles with the rabbits? My daughter checked his water bottle and it was still full- seems to be working fine, because we checked that as well...put a water bowl down and he drank like he was sooo sooo thirsty. Tiffany felt really bad. I told her to set a bowl of water under the bottle until he figures out what to do.

Bunny yogurt drops are a no-go. lol. She wants to find something to give as a treat during their play time. He doesnt like those. She bought a bunny brush, and set the expen up in the yard, sits with him out there and they are bonded nicely.
smile.png
He feels more comfortable with her holding him than me, for sure. I picked him up to show my husband

and the bunny was so scared. Doesnt do that when Tiff picks him up.

Kayla named the little show-girl Shmoo.

Does anyone remember Shmoo?
