I found a Michigan Chickenstock thread in the "meetups" area ; if anyone is planning something for this spring or summer, would you kindly post it there?

(It's near the top of the list at the moment).

I'd like to set up something in the West Michigan region, but I'm not sure who lives in this area and who would be interested.

I am not a big fan of all this rain, but the chickens don't mind it at all. They have been out playing in it all morning. They look so funny all soaking wet, it makes me giggle!

Morning all, I just came in from checking and girls and they are wet but happy. I have a blue andalusian pullet that hatched on 10/10/08 that wound up a "house" chicken. I have been trying to decide if she was big enough to put out in the big coop. Hope and I talked about it and decided to give her another month before taking her out. That was until this morning. I was changing her water bowl, it mounts on a bracket and twists, when she decided that she is actually an attack chicken. I came away with blood running down the back of my right hand from 2 punctures and my left forearm as well. I think she can hold her own in the coop.

Holy cow, Opa! Did she peck or claw you? Sheesh! I felt sorry for that little one, all alone...but I think you're right; I think she can probably hold her own! Might be a good idea to take her cage to the garage for a day or two, just to acclimate her a bit to the outside temps. That's always my first step; I think it eases them in a bit.
