I'm SOOOO excited!!!

For the first time I left some eggs under 9 extremely broody bantam hens. We've had to collect eggs a few times a day because several hens have been eating them. I pick them up and check to see if they've stolen more eggs and when I went to pick one of them up a few minutes ago, this is what I found...

OMG, I'm beyond excited!! It must have hatched a while ago because it's all dry.

My question is, should I bring it in the house? We have several roosters and I'm afraid one of them will get the chicks. Although then hens won't let me near the eggs without putting something in front of their face so I can pick them up by the tail to check for eggs that don't have marks. I'm also afraid if I leave it out there it won't eat.

Chicks hatched from a broody hen is all new to me. Any advice??

I have no clue but wouldn't moma hen protect it and show it where/how to eat? Huge assumption on my part but I am curious myself.

I finally CAUGHT which Chante is doing the crowing, or attempts at crowing, so I ran out with the camera and did a short video clip. I had to crow about 4 times to get him to do it again, but he DID and it's the one with the BLUE band on his leg, so he's the one who is now named "OPA, The Old Rooster" here in Munger, Mich.
I rebanded them all, tried to keep the same colors Stacykins had on them if I could, but Blue had to become Black cause I didn't have blue at all. He won't mind tho, he thinks he's Mister Bad!

And chartreuse had to become green.
Long day for us, we drove (1.5 hours) to Owosso and did some house repair work for step-Mom, didn't get home till almost 3:30. Glad thats done.

Keyt, Love the baby, so cute. Did you only get one? Momma will take good care of the baby, although they are not as people friendly as if raised by you. I think Momma teaches them to be afraid of every thing big but her .

Haha, glad you finally figured out who was makin' all the noise! Good thing you rebanded, I made sure the bands had wiggle room when they went off to join your flock, but they definitely need changed every few weeks to keep from becoming tight. I hope the bands helps you tell who is who until each individual personality shines through!

Just as an FYI: I am going to be placing an order with Townline later this week. If anyone needs anything but doesn't have enough for a full order or just wants to share shipping I'm happy to do so. I am in Lansing at least once a week and can meet there or you can pick up from my home in Mid-Michigan (45-60 min north of Lansing). I'll probably place the order Friday.
