I am wondering if most of you use oyster shells. I have been drying my egg shells and pulverizing them and adding to their egg/oatmeal/yogurt breakfast. Most have been laying for a few weeks now and the shells seem very strong. Any thoughts? Thanks.

I use oyster shell. Throw it in a pan with grit and they eat what they want. Sometimes they dust bath in it

I have used oyster shells for 10 years. I like to scatter mine on the ground by their waterer. They like to 'find' it!

Yay Taprock, glad you came over! Welcome to the MI thread. Great people here and lots of good conversation. Instead of sticking to one topic we just talk about everything, kind of like a big ol' coffee klatch! We share chicken experiences, ask questions, voice opinions, offer help, ask for help, share pictures, laugh a lot and sometimes even cyber cry together. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

I also use oyster shell in a container for them but also always crush up my egg shells and sprinkle them on the ground in the run. Speaking of pictures, I have to share one of my BR roo Joe who got adventurous yesterday. At night I let the girls go in to roost first and keep the boys out till the girls have settled, then let the boys in. I do that because some of the hens are intimidated by Worf and the FBCM roos and I want them to get their favorite roosting spots first. The roosters get restless and try to find a way in so I guess Joe was looking for a chimmney!

Actually it is a small bottle, 8 oz. It is a concetrate. I swiped DH's sprayer so he went and bought a new one

It is cheaper in the long run to get the bigger bottle but I did not have enough cash on me at the time to get the bigger one. This was enough to dip the chickens and spray the coops.
