gosh I must have blocked this out of my memory. today while cleaning poop tray in the coop there was a gust of wind and the main door flew open (which now makes me think I need a latch for when I am inside the coop). The girls broke free. To my horror, my dogs were out. Now....I really wasn't worried about the Bichons...they are not that excited about the chickens and they didn't react and acted like they were apart of the flock.
BUT....my mutt, a 60lb+ rescue....came bounding down the deck after them.
Thank the LORD this dog is terrified of me because if she wanted to have fun killing spree with the girls there wasn't much I could do to stop her. Quick thinking made me pick up the fish net (which I have strategically hooked to the side of the coop) and I threatened every hair on that dogs head if she came near my precious girls. Unfortuneately the girls are NOT afraid of my dogs so they completly ignored the really big threat bounding towards them.
Well after my very serious verbal threat she bolted to the front yard and sat next to the front door to be let in so she could hide in her crate. Phew! Close one.
I ran up to let her in and came back and one of my Bichons (pictured in my avitar) was foraging with the birds.
if only I had my camera.....
