me? What did I do?

RAZ- I LOVE that tent-garage!!! In fact, I think my hubby needs one..no, I need one. Our garage roof has holes in it- we could put it INSIDE our garage to keep our stuff dry-...it could be like the den inside the 'man cave'....hmmm. I could set one up at the back fence......instant privacy fence?

The rain is proof that Mother Nature wants me to have a pond. My entire backyard. Just think, in the winter everyone can come over and skate where there once was grass..

Yorkchick is kind enough to take on my goosers. I am very grateful and I know they will have a wonderful spoiled fabulous life. Now, that said- I am avoiding the whole thinking thing...don't wanna think about it until I take them there tomorrow. Then I will cry my eyes out all the way home.Im not letting my girls come with me. I dont want to be 'brave' or 'put on a front' during the drive home. I want to be able to cry and sniff and snorf and sob and smoke all the way home. If I take them alone, I can do that. ...okay, no more thinking of it for now-

Today is home coming. Yesterday was the Homecoming football game. My daughter Tiff is in Color Guard. Which means, I was out there watching the parade and then the football game. In the freezing rain and wind. I was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO cold and wet I couldnt feel my legs. I had on my winter coat, and hood, and was wrapped in a blanket- which is great, until it gets soaked by the rain. reminded me of how cold I will be all winter long. Today, its hurry and get her nails done, listen to her complain while she does her makeup and hair and transforms into an even more beautiful princess- and then, I am chauffeur to the dance, from the dance and to the restruant and bowling alley. Then, I am the ride home. I am not complaining. I would rather do all the running around than have them get in a car with friends who I dont know- and dont know if the friends' are drinking/smoking/otherwise impaired. Ive got a gang of them that I am driving around tonight.

My son delivers pizzas- yay, its a job. May not be much but it is SOOOOOOOO much better than him not working at all.

:weee Anyhow, the other night, he was on a delivery and his brakes went out.
He is fine, and his car ended up in a front lawn. I am so thankful/grateful/relieved that he wasnt hurt or killed and didnt hurt or kill anyone else no car wreck..today my husband has to fix it. Apparently its the right brake line. He has to work at five today, so my hubby will have to get out there early. Hope the rain stops/holds out just a little while. See, another instance where the 'tent garage' would come in handy. We do have a canvas carport- however the tractor lives there. Its not allowed to get wet.

It just occurred to me- perhaps the award is for the ability to write a novel every time I post...lol.

I hope you are all doing well. I keep trying to get back here and catch up and stay put, but it seems that I don't have any extra time anymore for me to be on the computer. I dont know why- how is it that I am so much busier than I was? I think it will be easier once the snow has me buried in the house for months. OR now that the wedding and Homecoming is over with.., anyhow prayers for everyone who needs them and I will post again after I deliver my goosers to their new life...

Thank you for whomever nominated me as Friend.. I am humbled, and grateful that I have all of you as my friends to share the ups and downs of my world with.

Morning everyone!
Congrats to babygirl and also to this months winners! I am ashamed to admit I have NO idea where you go to nominate?? Also read something about a chicken calender....where is that??
The rain appears to have stopped and although it was frustrating...it really helped my new grass sprouting in the back yard.

I don't think I have mentioned this but DH decided we need to go south for Feb, March, and April. We will be in Florida. I knew this was a possibility (our daughter and my 98 yr. old dad lives there) so I purchased a $300 travel trailer and we converted it into a mobile coop. We will be hauling my 11 remaining chickens to a friends for the 3 months. Last night my friend returned my call and confirmed he would care for them so I can sleep at night now and stop fretting. He has chickens and also turkeys but for those months I am asking him to keep mine inside the 11 foot trailer. I know many of you have your chickens out in the winter but usually it is so frigid and snowy up here I don't. Plus...truth be told, I don't want them around his since I'm always paranoid about biosecurity...disease, etc.
We put the nest box on the outside of the RV and the food and water will be right next to the door so he won't have to go inside. We have lots of perch room and space so I think they will be ok. It is either that or I give up my chickens since DH wants to go south every winter. (better than moving back to Florida).

I plan on bringing back some Ameracauna eggs to hatch when enroute home from Alachua Florida and will have room for them in one of the 3 coops I have...then next late fall will have to decide which 11 I will keep from my English Orps, Jersey Giants and Ameracauna. I plan to separate for several weeks before breeding and I won't sell any Ameracauna eggs or chicks since I won't be able to have 3 roos in the trailer. (I have my Orp roo and Jersey roo raised together so they get along fine)

Looks like a good week ahead weather wise so hope you all have a great week!

the nominations and calender type stuff is usually in the top box of the index page under a thread regarding BYC announcements.

fife - love the trailer idea for wintering your birds at someone else's home. very inventive.

mom - glad you found a good home for the goosers, it is okay to mourn our loses, you go ahead and blather like an idiot if you need to.

Great michigan morning. I took the DD on a sunrise ride and out for breakfast. 8 deer, 4 squirrels, 1 hawk, 2 chipmunks, hundreds of ducks on a lake. Why I swear I even saw a partridge in a pear tree! Have a blessed day all.

Congratulations award winners, good job

35 degrees and breezy here this morning, but at least the sun is shining. So glad I picked those green tomatos, the relish has been a big hit and I am going to do one more batch.

Lucky you fife, would love to get out of town for the winter too - my boyfriend has a house down there and keeps trying to talk me into it.

I know that it is great that we can go to Florida for that time...I'm just a worrier. I have "poop" boards under the perch area.....right now I clean my poop boards weekly but I guess it is possible to go 3 months without cleaning them. (I think I read that someone had done that). I'm not telling him NOT to clean...just need to stress my concerns regarding biosecurity without insulting him. I'm paying for his 16 chickens feed along with mine in repayment which really isn't much. I hope it works out...I will have my computer in Florida so will stay connected with BYC and will let you all know how it turns out.

Glad you all don't think I'm nuts:rolleyes:

Oh...and thank you for the "nomination" info....now if I can just REMEMBER that!

Well, at least it ain't raining today! It's still kinda on the cool side and definately a bit on the windy side. The sun peeks out every now and then. DH, Krisrose and I went to see Contagion, since we can't do too much outside today. Interesting movie. Anyone with a phobia on germs, stay home!
