Isn't there anyone on here that wants some free ducks and geese? I'll help deliver or meet part way!! I really don't want to put them in the freezer or sell on craigs list to a total stranger.

Non of them are broody, since only one is laying....they are all too young yet. I thought of that though. lol Something to remember in the future. I wish I knew which eggs on my family's farm has been fertilized or I would use those.

We are just going to make our own incubator sometime this winter.

Belive me, your lil silkies will be broody come spring, and they make wonderful mammas. Lots cheaper and less work to boot!! And, fellow BYCers will gladly share hatching eggs with you.
Love your dogs, chickendales. Especially the first pic...beautiful colors!

There was crowing in my coop this morning, finally!

Now if I could just get those 2 BOs to start laying eggs. Raz, you and I should have a head to head contest to see who has the laziest pullet. 30 weeks old and no sign of egg laying behavior in either one.

All of my silkie hens are the best broodies ever! I only got them to stop sitting a month ago!

This is a 20 week old white rock cockerel that was last night's dinner. He may look kinda scrawny, but he had a lot more meat on him than it looks. Mom and I enjoyed him with stuffing and sweet potatoes as soon as he was out of the oven and rested, and then once all the meat was removed after dinner, he became two hearty chicken pot pies. This was my first time ever having a home grown chicken, and it was amaaaazing! Never have gotten flavor like that from a store bought chicken, omg. And since he was young he was very tender and juicy.
