I guess it could be that. I keep waiting for them to lose feathers somewhere else besides the neck, but so far that's the only place. As Olive mentioned, I do see black feathers in the nest box where the FBCM lays her egg, so I'm thinking she's pulling them out.

Nice looking flocks everyone. Farmerboy16, that sure is nice and big! We use old tin for our roof also on the run. Ours isn't painted though....Might of been long, long, time ago.lol

Well I was outside a little while ago, chickens free ranging, kids riding the quads and the dog was out. When I was out by the shed I thought I heard a hawk screeching. I went inside, grab binoculars, scanned the area & didn't see anything. I KNEW what I heard so I was on the watch. Sure enough a little while later there he is scoping out the scene. I hurried & got the flock into the run. As I was rushing and getting the flock to follow me my little Roo decides I'm a threat or something and decides he's gonna challenge me & charge at me. Not once but several times. BIG DISLIKE...

....so I swatted him with a stick a couple of time! Little bugger is getting testy from time to time. Once they were all in the run I gave them a watermelon and stalked that little guy, marching, stomping and

telling him he doesn't want me to get my hands on him. I didn't think I was gonna have to much of a problem with him but I think I'm gonna have to go in there, get a firm hold, and hold him down. He needs to know he can't do that to me or anyone.

A little additional information about the magnetized digits. When fingers become magnetized with a hammer it can happen repeatedly, with powers saws just once.

Hope you & your family had fun.....wish I had a vacation right now....so many things I could really get done!!!

It was kinda stressful. The town we went to was VERY busy...so driving was a pain. I much prefer my northern Michigan vacations! I got my new silkie. She is beautiful! I will take some pics tomorrow. The roo, did great going back to his parents and brother. I got the last hen!

Well I'm happy....I spent the afternoon outdoors. My chickens were happy too for they got to free range the whole afternoon also!

RIRJen.....congrats on your win at nationals, hope your little guy feels better soon. My son had croup when he was around the same age as your guy. I remember doing a lot of holding, cuddling, rocking and a having barking seal for a bed partner. They bounce back in no time.

Our garden is totally finished. Wish I had some extra carrots...lol My DD pulled what we had left and took them out to the barn for the horses.

Yuppers...nothing like Northern Michigan Vacations!! I'd rather drive north anytime, any day....the busy congestion of the big cities is not for me. I do like visiting them but wouldn't want to live there. Yes...post pics please!!!

I don't think the kissing will work. I will get a hold of him, hold till he quits squirming and parade him around the pen while petting him. I don't want a mean Roo and my DD is alert & on the look out when they're free ranging for he charged at her this summer. Guess I'll dress for combat tomorrow!!!

Also forgot to ask, where is a good place to find turkey poults? I might just have to wait until spring when they are everywhere....
