You should be able to grow out a nice turkey even if you start in Spring. That's what a friend does and he gets nice big birds. I'll have to ask where he gets the chicks.

Thank you! I am going to keep them here a little while, then they will go to the family's farm until thy are big enough to eat....

Good Luck Opa....hope you bring home the bacon.....Oops...I mean venison!

Nova....I know this may sound time consuming but can you grind the pellets up into crumbles with a food processor?? I just hate the thought of a bag of feed going to waste let alone the money you put in to it. Just my thinking!

Again, the HUGE HAWK was sitting out yonder on a telephone pole. It was a huge one. The kids on the bus thought it was a Eagle. As soon as my DD told me when she got off the bus I grabbed my binocs again and there he was. I went to try and take a pic of him but he noticed me and flew across the field. He wasn't far because I could see him circling, didn't see where he landed but hear him screeching from time to time. It's lock down in the run for my girls for a couple of days. I feel bad but better safe than sorry.

NO WAY! That's rediculous...

Well, If they do not start eating more of the pellets, I can trade the neighbor... Get them to buy me a bag of crumbles I guess... SO far thou, I know no one is starving...

Now about the LIGHT.... When I first put the light up, I didn't have it plugged in, but I got it up. The little mutts were very interested in is, so I had decided to bungee cord it along with the wire hangers just incase they decided to get on top of it. Well, none of them did, so I was happy and pretty confident that there would not be a problem with them getting on top of it and taking it out. Well, I was right, they aren't. But Buffy is. I went out with the before bed snack. Two of my gilrs did not come, so I brought some of the snack to them in the coop. I saw Leila, but no Buffy. BUT I heard her. Where was she, she's talking up a storm but not on any of the roosts... At first I thought maybe she figure out how to get on top of the coop. Nope not there. She had got up on the light, and there is not that much room up there between the top of the light and the ceiling, but she did it. Silly chicken. I would have liked a picture, but the glare from the light totally kills the picture. Hope Mr. Fat Butt Fluffers doesn't try and get up there with her. I don't think I have to worry yet, he will not leave Miss Legs side for a moment... AW, chicky love.

We are doing some 'budget cutting' and we have 7 'Scovy ducks (3 drakes, 4 hens) that will either be sold, given away or eaten.

They are this springs chicks. Prices negotiable.

We have a roo injured. I notice him favoring a leg a couple of days ago and all I could see was possibly leg mites. So I greased him up good and cut him loose. Yesterday I noticed his toe appeared to be swelling and danged if it doesn't look like he broke his toe somehow. It's swollen to the point of being unbendable. I have applied antibiotic cream and begun administering antibiotic for the swelling and any possible infection. I really don't care if he has a crooked toe. Just would like to keep the idiot around awhile. He is good with the hens and us which you don't find that often.

Have been fighting a head and chest crud for about a month now and am sick of being sick. My whole being is just "BLECH".

For those of you that pray, my sister-in-law, her name is Cindy, just lost everything in a fire including her dog. She will have a tough road for a few months I would imagine getting back on her feet.

Good night Michigan
