Black Friday Madness.....I stay away from all stores....my theory, there's always another sale and there is nothing that I could possible want that bad to fight the crowds. I hang out at home and set the tree up. It's so nice out that I'm getting antsy and decided I really to get out side. I'll the my chickens out extra early to free range for this weather is surely not gonna last. Good day everyone!!!

Since I already have the majority of my shopping done, I vowed to stay away from the stores today. My daughter works at the mall and had to be in at 5AM this morning. Apparently she wasn't quite awake when she arrived because she locked her keys in her car. She called me at 9AM to ask me to bring out her extra key. So much for my plan of avoiding the stores!

It was a crazy morning where everything was going wrong. Didn't even get my coffee to until 10:30! My only few minutes of peace were when I was outside with the chickens. I don't know what makes walking around the yard having a conversation with a bunch of chickens so nice, but there is no denying it. I'm sure my blood pressure is at least a few clicks lower from the experience.

Looks like a beautiful day. I'm going to assume the worst is behind me.

Happy Friday, everyone.

No Black Friday shopping here, just work. Lots and lots of work. But I was happy because my route got a truck assigned to it which makes it easier. Yay! Besides, as far as the shopping goes, a $10 toy is not worth getting pushed or shoved or who knows what. I'll enjoy the comforts of home as I click buy now/add to cart and have it all sent to me.

With much trepidation I ventured forth to look for a couple of Hallmark interactive book plush animals. Hope wanted them for her granddaughters and we were afraid that if we waited to long they might be sold out. I was surprized that the crowd problem, at least in my area, was overstated and I was in and out of a couple of store without having any trouble parking or standing in any lines.

I found the granddaughter gifts and since I had done so well when I found the trolling motor I wanted on sale I decided that I deserved a p;resent as well.

I got the tree in the stand but didn't put the lights on but I did get my lights up outside in my landscaping. I have 3 tree crab-apple trees that I strung them through. I let the girls out extra early and they had good ole time....they even found their way to the front were I was. A few were a little to adventurous and I had to shoo them back for they were heading towards the road. I guess the ditch on the other side looked tempting! I have my heated waterer set up in the coop and I have to say it might stop the water from freezing but I sure don't like how sloppy the water gets

......pine shavings and a little poo. I guess it's something I'll have to live with for the winter. My waterers with the nipples have me spoiled!!!

P.S....... Are crab-apple berries OK for chickens to eat?? Mine were picking away.

I go out on Black Friday every year and believe the experience is directly related to your attitude (and to some extent the retailers you frequent). I'm never after hot items, can't be bothered to stand in long lines. I just go for fun and for the tradition. My aunts, cousins and I shop together every year, we're never in a hurry and aren't compelled to sell our souls for $5 off a flannel shirt so it ends up being a really nice day of shopping.

We stop for breakfast mid-morning and for lunch later in the day. In more than a decade of doing this I can count on one hand the number of rude people I've seen while Black Friday shopping. A lot of it is media hype and/or can be avoided by avoiding certain stores *cough* wal-mart *cough*.

That said, the traffic patterns were a lot different in the stores this year though. With many of the stores opening at midnight rather than 4 or 5 am it changed things and I also noticed a more marked difference in traffic in different stores this year, perhaps economy related. I noticed some slight changes last year, but this year they were more noticeable. Lots of people seemed to be sticking much more closely to pre-determined lists and getting in and out, not taking time to shop. I suspect budgets are tighter this year than even last when they were already constricted for many. It'll be interesting to see what kind of report the retailers put out on the results of today.
