Im sitting here listening to my crow-boy now, and realized that tonight is his last night with the ladies. I hope they havent forgotten their own common sense. He is very good at alerting them to any hawk/other threats and showing them where the goodies are...and making sure they all go in to roost when its time. (with the exception of the scatterbrain sisters). I dont know how they will act once they are divorced.

I candled eggs under my broodies last night. It looks like less than a week for the one girls, and Im not sure how long for the others. The temps have really dropped. I sure hope the one with the least amount of time to go doesnt decide to just get up and quit now. I just turned their Christmas lights on. "It's Spring...really."

Rlipinski - welcome. I'm new here also. So far great people and great advice. I'm origanally from the east side of the state so about three time a year I have to make the pilgimag to Bay City and Pinconning for polish sausage and cheese. I envy your food supply over there.

On the fire extinguisher- For my outbuildings I keep a couple in a storage box outside the barn. I don't want to have to run into a burning building to retrieve one. Everyone have a great day. Thanks for all the great discussins. It's amazing how much info is posted during the day.

I need some advice and am hoping you all have some! I posted a question under Managing your flock last night but didn't get much response. My son's 4-H group is taking animals to the care facility tomorrow. We are taking two bantams, an OEG roo and a sizzle pullet. Yesterday I looked them over and discovered the boy had some mites again. It hasn't been 3 weeks yet to treat him with ivomectrin again so I thought I would dust and bathe him. Then I realized I haven't done this in the winter. My coop is unheated and it has finally gotten cold so I figured I need to make sure he is really dry. My other thought was to bathe them just before they go so they have the added time of the visit to dry completely.... but then I was worried about stressing them out. The visit is only an hour plus another hour in driving time. What do you think is best for them?

1mutt...I'd think a dusting of sevin (if you are comfortable using that) is fine. I would stay away from anything "wet" just because I'm a worry wart.

Hillbilly...LOVE your BR's!!! I would be interested in some chicks or hatching eggs in May when I return.

ChickwannaB...I will gladly give you fertile eggs from my black Jersey giant girls BUT they will be 1/2 black jersey giant and 1/2 Black English Orpington since I had to cull my jersey roo. If you can't find purebreds by next spring...i will have some here for you. You let me know come mid May.

Sun is shinning. I have a walk to take with my poochie and will take out my camera also to get some pics of the camper coop. In the past I have been able to post one picture...then when I go to do another one...the first one disappears. So I'll see what happens.

On a sad note, we lost our 10 yr old terrier mix, Billy tonight. He just went to sleep and didn't wake up. Grateful he never succumbed to disease or got hit by a car, but to just have him go so suddenly was a shock. Rest in peace Lil Bill.
