So I am thinking, "FIELD TRIP!!!" I want to go to the Rare Breeds Show at Garfield Farm, Sunday, May 20, 2012. 300 miles one way. It is only one day, 11 am to 4 pm and about a 5 1/2 hour drive (a long day for sure!) We would be talking leaving around 6 am and getting home around 10 pm. I can take 3 adults comfortably (I have a Mercury Mariner) plus a couple of cages, should we find any critters to bring home. If someone had a full size van, we could even reduce the gasoline expense even more and share turns driving time . If 6+ people went it would cost about $20 each for gas. I just thought I would throw it out there. I know I haven't met any of you yet, but 600 miles is a great way to get to know someone (and help pass the time)!! It doesn't have to be all adults either if any have children who would be interested. I am open. I am retired with time on my hands. As you have seen from previous posts, I am interested in raising Black Javas. Supposedly they will have some at the show. I was thinking if anyone else was interested in introducing new genes into their flock, that this might be a good idea. Aside from chickens there will be rare sheep, cattle, horses, goats, not to mention the farm itself. I think it is about $6 entry fee. I live in South Lyon, MI.

This could be a prelude to Chicken Fest!

Well, after that I had to go out and take a look-see.

No blizzard here. Just a light flurry falling. I have, at most,a half inch in the driveway. At least there is enough snow to cover the mud in the backyard.

Let me teach your daughter to drive. I'll have her doing donuts in no time. Power slides and 4 wheel drifts will be the next lesson.

I did teach her to watch out for those crazy donut-doing drifting type of people...
AND, we have more than a half-inch. We started out with a half-inch on the ground at sun-rise this A.M. Now we have tons of huge white fluffy snow flying down.
Just hope it doesnt stick around. Actually, my hubby could shovel this stuff when he came home. Go look again.

Nag, nag, nag. Sheesh.

Ok I went out and actually measured the snow. I have 1 inch here.

Not even close to a blizzard, not even worth going out to shovel. Not while the Glee marathon is on.

Grandma- Bobbi was a beautiful little girl as are your children (or handsome in your son's case). Is that picture taken on the deck of the Grand Hotel?

Are the rest of you seeing pictures I can't see? I see Grandma's post with two pictures, one of the hen she brought from Hawaii and one of her beautiful daughter holding Bobbi. I don't see a picture of her son on the deck of the Grand Hotel. What's up? I wanna see what everyone else is seeing!! Not fair.

Those are NOT allowed here this year.

I bit the silkie bug- and just bid on silkie eggs from Ohio.
I couldnt help it. It is the same seller that I got the eggs from that hatched out my chicken in my avatar all those years ago. I miss her, never replaced her...and have to try to hatch out another splash silkie.

My husband said that I am going in too many directions - with my chicks, the cats, the dogs, the leopard gecko....

I told him that he doesnt understand Adult ADHD....oooh look, a chicken...

*sneaking up behind Chickmate...ducking behind the corner of the page......*

Chick mate! My son made me delete it!!! Did not want to be on our chicken website!! How embarrassing for a teen!

p.s. he has dark curly hair like my husband did and brown eyes! Hard to explain when our first child, my daughter has blue eyes and blonde hair like my side of the family. Awkward - but honestly only been married once and both kids were ours.........
