Nova, Just my opinion but I would get a fecal sample in the a.m. from Veena and see if the vet techs could give you some ideas of what you are dealing with. Then you could pick a medicine that targets whatever the problem is, either from the vet or the feed store (or one time our vet even called something into Walgreens for us for our hen!) The reason I suggest this is that this problem has been going on for a while and Veena is going to get weak. She will need to keep all the good bacteria in her gut that she can and any unnecessary antibiotics might hurt more than they help her. If she needs a drug, it should be targeted right to the problem - for example yeast in the crop will require something specific. And if she had staph or strep as my hen did, it responds best to certain antibiotics. If she has a parasite, then she might not need an antibiotic at all. I know you probably know all this from having kids. Keep us posted........it might even be possible that the blocked crop she had caused her to lose weight and today she couldn't tolerate the cold. Maybe warmth and food will help. Darn chickens.......if only they spoke English. Our job would be so much easier.

That's the plan Chicken Grandma. She's in a nice 72°room right now.. Getting the spoiled but confined treatment. If all goes good with the poopoo sample, then she's gonna get the cat food treatment too. Buffy loved chicken and giblets cat food!

Well, I don't get out much.

When I got the BLAs from Mary, I was thinking Giblets and Gravy. I got some grief for those names. So it became Gravy and Nuggets. These Uggo chicks from M2M seem to add some flavour to the flock so maybe spice based names are more appropriate. The buff one with the dark feather spots certainly reminds me of pepper. But the other one is more bold. Perhaps Curry? What are some other bold spices?

Good Morning All,
One off to school and one to get up then out to feed & change those messy chicken's water. They have been digging & tossing the past few days in the pen and have really been trashing the water. I can't wait til spring so I can revert back to using my container with the nipples.....mess free!!!

Nova sorry to hear that Veena isn't still not feeling better....hopefully the vet will be able to help.
