Because of this:

I have more reasons to get rid of these:

I'll be listing these in the for sale and other website classifieds, just letting you know first. I'm asking $25 for the pair of Runner Ducks hatched last May (from Holderread top show quality hatching, don't know if these are show quality). The drake, as you can see in the picture, has more iridescence and the drake feather on his tail. The female duck, quacks like a girl, acts like a girl and does not have a drake feather. As far as I can tell she hasn't laid an egg yet though. The rooster (FREE to a good home) was hatched last July and is a Silkie / Silver Laced Wyandotte mix. If you take the rooster you can also have the ducks free.

Oh my gosh, look at those two! SOLD! LOL!

Seriously though. I wish you were closer. My younger sister LOVES runner ducks and hasn't had any in a few years. I'd take them in a heartbeat and put a bow on them for her when she comes home from college for the summer.

Like bowling pins with legs!!

I wondered what runners reminded me of! Those are beautiful ducks, but I'm not even going to think about ducks, too much trouble.

Mom -

Yes, my Kayla's favorites almost always meet their demise sooner than called-for. Im sorry your cats thought they were jungle hunters.
Mine generally like to sit and watch the babies...now and then Sushi will jab a paw in through the bars of the cage and take a swipe..but its half-hearted..but of my eight, none have ever killed a baby. :( I am sorry. That really stinks.
The one we think did it was from our first set of barn cats. All his mates met not so happy ends and we felt sorry for him as he was only a few months old and got him all up to date and made him an indoor cat. Our other cat does what your Sushi does. Mia will jump up and look in, but runs away if she thinks anyone is coming. She wouldn't know what to do with a baby chick if given the chance, but Morris already had the instinct instilled in him. Needless to say, he's been banned from my daughter's room and she has yet to forgive him though it is his natural instinct.

My cat Radar will get in the brooder if he gets a chance- but he just wants to be under the heat lamp

Sushi will sit in the bathroom window- eyeball to eyeball with one of the Polish who is roosting outside..and I just know in her heart, she wants to be a black panther in the jungle..and pounce on the foolish polish who doesnt even realize she is sooo closee...

YORKCHICK!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I spied you in the window up there! How are you? Where have you been? Any gooser eggs yet? Hows Henry?

Give them a kiss for me.

Raz - thanks for the freesia info. No wonder I haven't had any luck with them.

Stacykins - your poor duckling. This is what I have been worrying about with my one aggressive guinea.

I had one baby hatch. I peeked under mom and there it was cute little puffy cheeks peeking out. I can't wait to see what it looks like.

muttsfan - how else would you put the eggs in lock down if not on the side or if I don't have cardboard cartons to cut down? I thought they were supposed to be put on their sides.

You guys keep scaring me about my isa browns! :hit Chicky May May is one of my 4 y/o's favourites, and Maru is too sweet.

Ease your mind. My first batch of birds was a mix with two Isa brown hens. One did have trouble being egg bound her third season and passes on. The other never got bound but has stopped laying this past fall and is heading into her fourth year with us. Still just as curious as ever.

Hey Hillbilly, aren't you the one who has the awesomely beautiful tightly barred Barred Rocks? They're having a Most Beautiful Barred Rock contest over on the Show Bird thread. Go over and blow them out of the water!!! Hardly anyone has entered so I posted a picture of Joe, my rooster, but then I remembered your gorgeous birds! Go on, do it! There's no prize, just congrats on winning.
