I didn't say that I was trying to refute generations of peer reviewed research. This is a semester project not a dissertation. Data collection were controlled for the 2 variables; number of eggs laid and minutes of daylight for each geographical location. The project is for the student to conduct an analysis of data and use the most powerful statistical tool available to support or refute the hypothesis. The problem with trying to refute generations of peer-reviewed research with 90 days of uncontrolled data collection is that the latter is most often best written on swiss cheese -- regardless of how contrary the author.
That's just me. I have that affect on the ladies.Anybody here have heart issues? Like palpatations and stuff? I get them randomly but regularly, but tonight they are happening a lot and it is freaking me out. I hope its just stress and lack of sleep.
That's just me. I have that affect on the ladies.Or is that effect?![]()
Seriously though, take it easy and take care of yourself. If you are feeling punk, call for help. Better safe than sorry.
Juise - Dr. Bennett at the Animal Clinic at 133 28th Street G.R. which is just East of the intersection of 131 and 28th St. exit is usually in on Tuesday and Wed. I would call immediately to see if you can get in. 616- 241-3651. Just tell them you want to bring a chicken in for a swab test. I think they will charge you an office visit and the price of the test also so it would be more pricey but you would get an accurate diagnosis and then good advice.
If you wanted to try to culture yourself, I believe pharmacies carry a swab and living media kit. You could then overnight the samples to M.S.U. Send me a message if you would like the M.S.U. address.
I heard Dr. Fulton at M.S.U. say that you have to swab down the back of the throat and also up on the top of the roof of the mouth to get a good result. That is why chicks cannot be swabbed until they are one week old or large enough to accomodate the size of the swab. Once you start using antibiotics, the testing won't be accurate again until 2 weeks after the antibiotic is stopped. Good luck!
Brethren49619 and Wickischickies and Shoomy! You will like it here!![]()

Juise- My first thought was Coryza, but it could be MG. I had both diseases last year, so I am quite familiar with both of them.
With Coryza, the chicks would have runny nose that smells BAD.Birds with MG have runny noses too, but almost no smell.![]()
I am sorry for you are going through, and hope that its not one of those two.
Sorry for all your loss, Congrats on your findings, paintings, art, and some others that I forget.
I went to FFH yesterday, and brought 21 CX, and most of them were about 2 or 3 weeks old, and got them for 1.49 each. I consider that a bargain, as I did not have to feed and keep them warm for a few weeks less than starting from day olds!![]()
It was pouring this morning, and a few days ago, I saw that the seeds that I planted in the cow field had sprouted! Woot! Got to finish the 2nd pasture fence, so I can move the calves out of the pasture, so the seeds can grow.
I'd like a set of measurements as well if you don't mind. I could make a few for Chickenstock as well. Not that I'm trying to compete with your DH.Mom 2, I will get those measurements if I don't forget in the next few minutes and post it for you tomorrow.
