Good morning Jake, the numbers signing up to attend Chickenstock continues to grow and I expect that if it goes like previous years we should have at least 150. If you click on the link in my signature line it will give you the information about Chickenstock including the buy/sell thread where you can see what some folks are bringing and let your wants be know.

Looking forward to seeing everyone at Chickenstock

Yes please... COFFEE!!!

Hope everyone had a good time with family yesterday. My Nephew (who has autism) and my DSIL (brother was sick so he stayed home) came over and ate with us at my parents. We had a good time. My Nephew was really talkative and pretty funny. He's done really well, works, drives and just got his own condo and is living on his own. We're really proud of him.
RIR.... that splash silkie is gorgeous! What colors are the splash silkies as chicks? I have 2 colors at home, a couple that are yellow (I assume will be white) and a couple that are yellow headed and grey bodies, any idea on what color they'll be?
I got to surfing about d'uucles colorings and I really think that several of the chicks I got are porcelain colored... not millie.. because I saw some photos of chicks millie color and they are way more brown than mine are. Mine are a light blue grey with a little yellow on the head, plus the feathers coming in are cream and light grey, no brown at all. I may even have one blue one. It's kinda exciting waiting to see what they really are (just hope they're not all roosters).

The site listed the dark one in this photo as millie and the other (which mine look like) as porcelain.

Actually, four of my silkies look like this chick as well.
Hey Jake, welcome back..

Do you have any photos of your nella brooders?
DH is going back for a second interview and tour today at the prospective job... Sure hope they give him what he's asking for in pay!!

We found a mule!!!

We got a great deal on a used mule Saturday... It looks brand new, 6 yrs old and only 300 hrs on it, plus a brand new snow plow, for a great price! I can't wait to use it for deer season too!
Now the only thing I'm missing is a barn and a little more fencing and I can finally get some beef!!!

Oh now I'm jealous LOL. I can't find any Porcelain ones. Had some Millie Fluers but gave them to a VERY special person in my life.

They look so clean and good compared the ones I see at swap meets. Do you bathe them?
Nope...you should see them when it rains! They look like drowned rats LOL I am going to bath them for thier first show this month...should be interesting! (don't worry...there will be pictures LOL)

Thanks! :) I love him...need to come up with a name for him...asked my friends to help but they're no help at all...keep giving me names that have to do with eating him HAHA! You can see the white with the blue as chicks...or which with whatever other color. It's pretty easy to tell. I have some hatching out soon and I'll post pictures. I'm not sure on the yellow head with grey body...

Well, if they turn out to be this color, maybe we can work something out!

Oh, I'll take some coffee, Opa - I went to make some but we are out.

I'm hoping to get some ducklings - I found a BYC member who has Welsh Harliquins due to hatch in 3 weeks, which are what I've been looking for - wooo! I would like to have a good plan in place before they come for their water situation - especially in the winter - Those of you with ducks and no natural pond, how do you water them? I can't imagine defrosting a baby pool every day in the winter - My uncle has Call Ducks that he just uses dish pans for in the winter - would that be sufficient for bigger ducks most days, and maybe a pool on warmer days? I'm only planing on getting 2... maybe 3, lol. I live in the outskirts of Ann Arbor, so I don't want to push it too much (though I'm dreaming of getting a goat one day, lol)

My Java that was broody all.summer.long. last year is broody again. She's such a good mama, and so determined - I usually pick up a few chicks to give her, but I may try with actual eggs... I don't have room to keep any, so I'm thinking of getting some silkie eggs from Destiny Farms in Brighton, since Silkies seem to be in high demand in my area, I may be able to move them easier.... Although I wonder if it'll be harder to move roos since they are so small... I'm also toying with the idea of trying to hatch a few fertile grocery store eggs, like I read about on here. I'm intrigued. :)

I got 9 chicks and 10 more have pipped!!

So excited for you!

I hope everyone's Easter was great. I enjoyed mine, but got tired of the tummy/baby rubs. The baby seems to know when it's not his daddy or brother patting my belly. After they stop he kicks me a few times.
Time to get outside and clean the camper, bleach the brooder one more time and enjoy the day alone. I am happy our son is back to school today, I am running out of books for him to read over break. Maybe today I'll have enough energy to work on my bow. Enjoy your day and hold some chicks for me. I'm missing mine.
