Ooooo. Careful Nova, vitamins will give darkness, but i remember reading something about that happening in advanced cases of the gall stones too. You may have nursed yourself as far as you can; if anything much more happens you'll have to go to the ER...... I got sick when i worked too many hours too, but i worry you may be getting worse....?

X2 That is just what I was thinking..... please take care of yourself Nova.

For anyone interested in the MG vaccine, I will get exact pricing once I have set up my account. I talked with the distributor who gave me the correct pricing. The reps gave me a 1000 dose price which is not how they sell it. So the price is double what he said for one vial which is 2000 doses. You can only purchase it by 20,000 or 10 vials. The total price will be around $600 for me to order it. But if I can split that between 9 other people each spring for our chicks then the price isn't bad. Cheaper then the vet bill so they can tell us we can no longer sell, free range, or show our birds!

The best part is after vaccinating our chicks and three weeks on complete quarantine after vaccinating then we can show our birds or allow them to free range without worrying.

If anyone is interested in getting 1 of the 9 vials of MG vaccine and splitting the costs please PM me. Please read the links below before deciding. http://www.merck-animal-health-usa.com/products/130_120692/productdetails_130_121193.aspx

If I have enough people interested in purchasing one of the vials then I will order it. It looks like the price will be around 60 for each of us, hopefully it won't be more then $70 with the shipping included. I will know more in a couple of weeks.

I hope the people in charge of this site will let me know if we can not share, or what I have posted is against the rules. If so I will remove this post! I don't want to break any rules.

I think I'll just buy healthy birds (and only when I have to) and replace them when necessary. Holy cow!

Maybe I missed that discussion....why wouldn't you be able to sell, free range or show your birds without this vaccine?

Well, thats not too bad. If a vial treats that many birds.... The next question is, how long is the vial viable?

ETA: Forget it... I see it says to use immediately upon opening... And this is where I have a problem. Again, this is not packaging for someone like me with only 28 birds... A 2000 dose vial, and I would have to use the whole vial the day I opened it... would be a waste of 1972 doses.. Well, I'd do Carls birds, but thats only another 24...

For three weeks after the vac, you'd need to continue to keep the birds under quarantine conditions with no access to outside influences in order for the vac to have maximum effect.

I saw the talk about the MG vaccine. I am not 100% on what I am saying here so I am looking for someone who can confirm or contradict what I am saying.

My understanding on the MG vaccine was that it did not keep the chicken from getting the disease but made the duration of it less and reduced the shed level. The MSU vet told me not to bother with it unless I was going to show my birds or use them in a commercial way. The vaccine would keep a bird from having a drop in laying if it got the disease.

That's why I was looking for 9 other people to share the cost and the vaccine with! $60 a piece is much cheaper then $600.

Even if you have 42 chicks (a small bator full) you are vaccinating, at $3 each to replace those chicks you are still saving yourself time and money with the vaccine. I am not worried about how much vaccine I will be wasting or not using once I mix it because it's still cheaper to use it on 3 dozen chicks at $8 a piece (what I am paying) then culling and replacing those chicks. I guess its all in how you view it.

I think I posted that they have to be quarantined for three weeks afterward. I plan to keep mine in the garage while I wait the three weeks. They also have to be at least six weeks old to use the vaccine.

You didn't miss anything RIRJen. You can sell, free range and show your birds, it just exposes them to Mycoplasm or MG. I am looking for anyone who wants to split this order with me because last week I lost my whole flock to it. I spent around $140 to a vet only to be told I can not sell, show or free range my birds because they have this very common disease or I can kill my whole flock and start over. I don't know how I got the disease, but since it can be spread by wild birds, other birds who don't show signs of having it at shows or on farms, it can be spread by a flock owners clothing, shoes and such. I know of four backyard farms in Michigan (none located near each other) who have culled their entire flock because of it.

Like I said, I'm just trying to find enough people interested in protecting their investment.

Another night to set out the trash and another night of pettiness from the crabby neighbor b witch.

First is the tree that she wants me to cut down.

This picture shows where she places her trash even though you can clearly see that there is nothing in front of her house (1st picture). The stacked blocks are ones that she removed from "her" side of the property line, same as the mums that she dug up and are now missing.

I'm amazed.
