I moved my chicks out to the brooder box in the coop yesterday. Last night when I locked up I had a hard time finding one of the German New Hampshire chicks. Makes me glad I got the extra leghorns.

Oh, and i wondered if you guys had missed the link i showed yesterday about vent sexing? I remember there were a few questions, this was a link to a video showing how......? Thought there would be a tad more excitement.
I did want to watch that but I cant at work, then forgot when I got home. I'll have to check tonight. Can you do it any age, or is that only w/really little ones?

Excitement about what... "a couple guys sitting around squeezing the s ch it out of chicks"? LOL!

Are you trying to talk me out of moving to Florida? lol...

sarah, i didn't like FL either. DH's mom had us stay with her for a bit while she was alive. I was raised to be unprejudiced, and i was completely shocked when i got there at how bad it was there. Entire streets that only one "color" could walk on, even and especially being a girl it was dangerous. Especially because i didn't know which was which, so i couldn't go walking like i was used to. Unless you are lucky enough to be in a "good" neighborhood. His mom lived in a housing development and it was a "good neighborhood" so i got to walk around there, but no where else. Also there are TONS of fire ants and crocodiles, so even the gardening isn't so great. (Not to mention that they have GIANT mosquitoes that make ours seem like babies!) Also, unless you have a water softener the water smells like sewage. :( You don't drink it, that's for sure!

I will say, though, that the shopping was excellent. MI is always behind a year or more on the fashion, so i had to update a lot or his sis wouldn't walk with me, lol. (But i, being the country gal, shopped for ideas then promptly went to the nearest Goodwill ;) )

No, excitement over being able to sex your chicks right away, instead of waiting for them to crow!

though they did make them look kinda like squeezey toys? Poor things, no wonder they are often scared of hands!

I took picts of my d'uucle chicks last night, I'll try to post them later. Yours are very cute! When I got the silkie chicks at TSC, she said all the ones with feathers are silkies.... I'm, like, um no their not! The silkies are the ones with the black skin and 5 toes.... those other chicks are something else! But I'm glad I got some of the other ones as well, cause they're very pretty (I think mine are going to be Porcelain d'uucle.. they are very lt grey and cream colored... no brown or dark areas like yours. It's kinda fun waiting to see what they'll look like!

Here are my developing de'ccle (mabe) chicks, they are turning out buff with black markings????? The largest is definitely acting roo-ish, flapping about and chest bumping the others: (Little bean is still little and calm)

sillychicken, VERY jealous of your porcelains!
