If I had the room... And I didn't worry about the wild toms that were in my yard all the time in the mornings before I let my chickens and ducks out... LOL.

I was going to get some BBWs to raise for dinner, but my Mom is adamant that we don't have turkeys too. She says the chickens are bad enough. I am almost tempted to ask my sister if my mom can have her trailer home when she moves to TX this summer. LOL. BUT, that would mean 2 yards to mow, 2 houses to shop for... BUT, I could also just cook all her meals for the week, and put them in the freezer... Oh... them temptation. THEN I would worry she'd get depressed and croak on me because she wouldn't have the kids to keep her irritated.

Too windy. I got more chaff in my face than anyone should endure, field can wait. Here's a few pics: curled toe BR and some spoiled ducks. Bunny pics turned out terrible, my iphone stinks, got to find my good camera, sorry Kim. The real fun is coming up - planning a gambrel barn and trying to envision exactly what my wife wants for a below grade pig pen complete with brooder and farrowing area in the barn exiting to the outside. I need to put on my thinking cap...

Robin,

I wish you the best!

Thanks Laura. It can only get better LOL

Ah heck... I have ducks. Not only do they eat the grass... they take it out by the roots! LOL
She's right. Geese are nothing like ducks. They don't drill and they don't rip plants out. They graze by tearing off just the top of the grasses. This gaggle are my lawn mowers and they do a great job, keeping it all trimmed at the right level. I've had to mow the grass they can't get to twice; they've kept everything else well trimmed.

Wait... maybe I'll take the geese, too. They can't crap up the yard (pun intended) any more than the dog, right?

LOL! Well... I guess that depends on the kind of dog.

They do poop while they're grazing, but they mostly poop at night, so you'll have one area where they poop quite a bit, but it's contained to that area (and they tend to pick a sleep spot and stick with it). I just go over and rake up every so often and throw it in the compost. It also washes away easily with a hose or good soaking rain.

The geese are awesome and I don't just say that because I'm selling them. I've been a proponent of geese on small farms for years. They by FAR out perform what they require to raise. If you're really interested shoot me a PM and I'll give you the full pitch.
