Good morning everyone! I am trying to keep from peeking under my two broodies to see if more eggs hatched during night until it warms up a little. It is so much easier when you can see all the action in an incubator. Need some sort of glass-bottomed nest box. Here's Hermia with her one chick and she is still sitting on 4 eggs. Buffy has 4 chicks now and two eggs left. I hope they all hatch RIRJen so you have a silkie or two for me!

Sarah...oh, no, no, no, I don't think YOU are being stereotypical at all. I'm not pointing a finger at you. If that's how it came off I'm sorry, that was not how I intended my post to sound. I think you're a sweetheart. This cop in particular makes me angry too. He's the one giving the rest if the cops out there a bad name. Sometimes the media doesn't get all their facts either though. Makes me wonder what happened that the cop thought he had to shoot the dog. Was the dog attacking him? Not that I'm defending the cops actions, not at all. I just wonder if there is more to the story.

Ellimae: If you're talking about Cisco, the blue heeler that was shot by the cop the release from the department said that he felt threatened when the dog ran out of his back yard to bark at the cop. He had the owner at gun point. The cop didn't double check the address with the dispatcher and when the owner of the home walked from his backyard to the front, the officier told him to freeze- at gun point. Cisco heard the noise and came out the bark so the cop shot him. The poor owner feels horrible that he didn't dare reach out to stop his dog and the department doesn't feel at all bad. He was supposed to report next door to a couple involved in an argument. The story is terrible and heart breaking.

Sarah: Cutey! Hoping for more pictures when the rest hatch

Ladyfeather, thank you for the info....definitely a mistake in the officers part if the dog was just barking at him, I can't believe the department isn't willing to make it right. Where did this happen? He may have felt threatened, but unless the dog was rushing at him looking for a leg to get a hold of, it was a bad judgment call for sure.:(

I have to agree with a lot of you that I'm not sure lasagna without cheese would really be lasagna. That said, if you roast eggplant right with plenty of olive oil to soak into it, it can be as rich or richer than any meat dish on the planet! Juise, care to share your magic vegan lasagna recipe with me? I'm curious!

DaughterofEve - that's one handsome duck! How can he be having problems finding the ladies?

Juise, I checked out the vid of your kids trying eggs, man they're adorable! Sounds like you've got a little Goldilocks going with the older one. "These eggs are too cold, these eggs are too hot, these eggs are juuuuuuuust right!" What a sweet girl though. I couldn't help but read some of the comments, geez people can be nasty. But I have to say that you handled the replies with grace!

keyt - Congratulations!

Opa, I'm sorry about your pup. Those decisions are so hard to make.

My little chicks are growing up so fast. Sometimes they even stop cheeping for 4 or 5 minutes at a time (and, because I'm so used the buggers being noisy I have to go check and make sure nothing's wrong). I wish the weather would hurry up and warm up otherwise I'm going to have to find yet another something to put them in as they're outgrowing where they're at now. If I could just put them out in the coop I'm going to build this weekend then I wouldn't have to worry about it

Opa, you will know when it is time for your faithful companion to go. So sorry. All pet owner know that a day may come when we are in that same boat and even though it is a rough ride. If I had a chance to do it over, I would still have chosen to be a pet owner.

Blue sky here, and I hope I get a couple of minutes to enjoy it. Off to work.
