I live in Big Rapids so the closer the better other wise I can wait till the big chick stock in June but I just got my newest babies on Wednesday and would like about or around same age chicks.

That's not a bad name. I think I'll have to brew up something that suits it.
I volunteer to be a taste tester, you know someone has to make sure it's safe.

While the morning is still rainy it should be over before long and the day should clear providing all of the mothers on the thread with a beautiful day.

Raz, I can understand you looking forward to the Uggos starting to lay however I would strongly suggest that you not plan on hatching any eggs from them. Since they are a hybrid creature is might result in an even more bizarre genetic throwback.
hahahahahahaa
Good lord Opa, like a croc? Lol!!! Maybe I need some uggos! No, no I don't. *runs screaming while looking back hoping some are following*

I have nine available...will bring them to Chickenstock..
I hear you there. Fortunately I don't have a roo. At least I don't think so. The one silver laced wyandotte is still suspect but I'm pretty sure he is a she.

When M2M stopped by the other day, she was surprised to see how big the Uggos were. They are nearly as big as my Buff Orp and their sire was a banty.

Sadly, these girls are sooo ugly. I will not be groping them.

Nope- their Mamas were banties. Their daddy was NOT. You have the first generation Uggo. The second generation Uggos are here..
I bet you'll try it just once Raz. bahaha!
I have a bulldog for crying out loud. What's one more "ugly" thing around the house.

I will post pictures again, and you can pick. Silly Chicken is getting six of them.
Just sitting here tonight doing a little reading and trying to allow my mind to relax. It's still thinking about all that was been done and still needs to be done with regard to Hope's stepfather. While you can logical explain why you have done everything as you have, it is still a little hard to total convince yourself. The right decision doesn't always leave you feeling good. I hope I am fortunate enough to have my mind and body both quit at the same time.

Uggos, bulldogs, I can see why some of you might find having ugly thing appealing, but I have no need of them. My house has mirrors.
Dear Sam- my heart goes out to you all facing/making these tough decisions. And in part because I am only around the corner from the same choices. My father is seventy four and I hear on the phone the problems he has. he is six hundred miles from here and he refuses to move closer to any of us. He really shouldnt live alone any longer, but is still capable of refusing help.
LOL! I did say I had worked in the garden. Might be what you were thinking. I don't hoe though. Used to, found it largely overrated.

Good morning Sam. Please tell Granny Happy Mothers Day- and that we all look forward to seeing her at Chickenstock.

I have to share a rehab story with you all.

You may recall that I have been raising up 2 orphan doves for ever. Even had to take them to Indiana with me and sneak them into the hotel because they had to be fed formula and I couldnt leave them alone.
Well. They have grown and weaned and learned to fly and to fear me. Once I wasnt the food-mama, I became a predator.
I have had their cage outside for about a week. I opened the cage door for them to freely go. I can only hope the best for them. And an abundant food supply.
It took them a day of staring at the open door before they left. I didnt see them go. Bittersweet rehab.
Yesterday morning, they were both in my dead pine tree. Aww...staring down at the chickens. Yesterday afternoon they were back inside their cage.

I didnt see them yesterday evening but they werent inside the cage, but this morning they are both in there.

Returned to the nest.

Good Morning & Happy Mother's Day!

It is going to be a beautiful day. I'm hoping to get a lot more done. I love working in my gardens....something to be said about being up & outside so earlier when the dew is still on the grass, the birds are chirping & sun is shining.

Question: For those of you who have ever used a saddle on a hen, when is the best time to put it on? I tried first thing this morning and she was having no part of the situation....wings flapping everywhere and trying her dangest to get out of my hold. I let her go because I didn't want to stress her out. I was thinking maybe put it on her at night when she's roosting? Don't know if that would be a safe thing? I be'd be afraid she fall off. Or...should I let her have her normal routine for a good part of the day and attempt it again later? I have a funny feeling she will not like this even though it's for her own good.

HA. I was just thinking this morning about how I loved how opposite Eeyore's avatar and name were. (And now I've outed myself as the weirdo who thinks about people's avatars while doing dishes. lol)

Hey at least your avatar isn't "Nude with a Chicken". Now that would be weird.

CG, your daughter is lovely! And her beau is so handsome.

Opa, I feel for you. I haven't had to make these kinds of decisions yet and I'm not looking forward to that day.

Mom2Em - I love your dove story! Hey, they're just being smart kids like you rasied them to be. Don't quit a job unless you have another one lined up, don't leave your house until you have another place to live!

Happy Mother's Day to all you mothers!

Looks like it's stopped actively raining so I can get outside and get the rest of the hardware cloth on the coop and fix the door before I run down and pick up Opa's banties.

Maybe I'll finish my coffee first.

Good morning Michigan, bright and sunny this morning, a little brisk but that's okay. My magnolia is just about ready to go into bloom - poor thing still looks like a dead stick most of the time, but at least it has survived two winters so far.

Happy mother's day to all of you moms, wish I could spend sometime with mine today.

Opa, remember that the woman always has the last word in any argument. If the man says anything after that, it is the start of a new argument. :D
