There's a swap coming up in Charlotte,MI on June 6th :) Go to Michigan bird and game website, they have info there.

Well, this weeks hatch is done and we have several new silkies/showgirls and speckled sussex! Looks like I got rid of the culprit who
was throwing the partridge silkies in my flock because I'm not getting any more of them!

This weekend we're going to tackle the coop project and get it done because I need to move these chicks out of my garage!!

Remember that eggs need to be in a bator soon for chicks coming to Chickenstock!!

Nigellas - :(

Well, all I actually managed to get painted was the outside of the door. At least it's a rather big door. It's the only outside part that needed to be painted, and it was so late in the evening that I finally got started painting - about 6:30 - that I didn't want to paint anything inside, open door or no. Don't want to fume them to death. So hopefully I will get a chance tomorrow to work on that more.

It is really hard to paint like that with the two wee ones. Kaia, (4,) is fine, but Katalin, (the 1 /12 year old,) is tough. I need to have her in sight and keep her off the wet paint / out of the paint can. This is pretty much an impossible task. Tomorrow I may just go ahead and put a movie on for them and see what I can get done. We borrowed Castle in the Sky from the library, I will be disappointed to not even get to hear it, let alone see any of it. I have never seen it before and would like to.

So, another frustration of the day, aside from my mailbox being demolished. Stopped at the feed store because I couldn't wait any longer for the Flock Raiser without buying more layer mash first, which I was really hoping not to have to do. Asked if they could give me an approximation yet as to when it will be in, it has been a few weeks since I ordered it now. I have called and checked several times in those weeks. Today, they told me they weren't actually getting it, they don't normally order it. What!?

First of all, when I first ordered it, I was told that they don't normally keep it in stock but could get it for me. Second of all... they couldn't have told me this 3 weeks ago?!?

I am pretty irritated, I could have ordered it elsewhere, and now I don't know that I have time to do that. I feel that this was rather irresponsible of them. It's a good thing for them that I am pretty devoted to buying from small local businesses when I can, or I think I might be done with them. This was the second time I attempted to order it. The first time, they "forgot", and that took a couple weeks to find out, too.

So now I am not really sure what to do. I think it has been 2 weeks now that the younger chickens have been on layer mash, and I am not sure how long it will take to get anything else. I am thinking I will just have to buy another bag of chick starter and keep them separate longer, I can't remember what age I guessed them before, but I think I overshot. I looked at the calender and I believe they are in the vicinity of 15 weeks, give or take. Thoughts?

RIRJen are you selling any of the silkie babies?
I don't like to share...

lol I'm waiting to see how they look and will have some available soon. I have quite a few white and that's probably all I'll be letting go for now. Are you wanting anything in particular?

Oh I go barefoot as soon as I can! I slip on flipflops to do chores but I think it's healthier for your feet to be bare or to be breathing in open shoes as much as possible rather then boots or tennis shoes. (not that I don't love my boots!)

whites are good RIRJen I just fell in love with the way they look and Im looking to by some before my other babies get to big, they are 2 weeks old today i wanted them to grow up with some silkie.
