Do you know which are drakes yet? They are dang adorable!

M2M showed me. Of the 3 big ducks, 1 is a drake and the other 2 are female. Based on that, I'm trying to determine the orphans.
I really don't care because I hope they all leave come fall. I want them to go south and hopefully make the return trip next spring. As much as I like these little cuties, I want them to be free and wary of humans. Having said that, I hope that they return and raise their own young here next year.

Help my babies are trying to escape their brooder. I have one that jumps up on top of the waterer and on edge of the brooder. It was so funny seeing that chick up there, I think its a boy I called it Gizzard. My dog was just waiting for Gizzard to jump in her mouth

Their colours are so vibrant and vivid. Photographs do not do them justice. Depending on the light, that beautiful blue is sometimes green or teal.
Same goes for the chickens. My black girls have every colour of the rainbow in their feathers and the Uggos seem to glow.

Hi Nova,

We are actually doing o.k. this Summer. Not always easy to have adult kids return home so I am glad!

I know this is not chicken news but I have some sparrows that are making nests in my porch light sockets. I called the carpenter friends I have to come and seal those up - I saw two fledglings come out yesterday and so I hope I can clean it out now and seal them up!

Well my little Polish didn't make it. I'm really not sure what happened. I will be keeping an eye on everyone else and hopefully they will be ok. I hate when there is no clear reason for their death.

Even though he had been with everyone I decided to bury him right away in case it was something contagious. If it happens again I will have to consider it. I had wondered if the heat from yesterday could have done something. Seems unlikely but it was sudden onset and death with no specific symptoms. I went back and read all diseases and symptoms to see if I missed something and found nothing new.
