I have constant stages of broody here, as well. My girls alternate whose turn it is..I think they should all go broody on the same day, then be done with it at the same time for the summer.
Even that wouldn't work. Mine aren't happy with just one hatch. About a week after they kick the babies out they are broody again.

Robin-

I finally got a picture of her- sorta...

Vjwilmoth-see this little brown camouflage girl along with her sister above ? And the Uggo? Problem with Uggos is they all sort of have naked chests..so black may be easier, black skin, black feathers..harder to see their chests, lol..

This one is a picture especially for Swampducks..

Fuzzy - I don't think RaZ was thinking of you when he wrote that post! Did you know that you can get liquid antibiotic and using a syringe or dropper just push it down your chicken's throat? That way you don't have to put medicine in the water or give a shot.

Breatheren - Great Coop! Great name!

HI everyone! I just recently moved to Indiana but I was born in MI and lived there for 37 years! I was born in Benton Harbor but lived most of my life in niles. About 6 years ago I moved to Edwardsburg (migrating south i guess) and now today Im living across the border in northwest IN. My son is currently a student at the University of Michigan.Go blue! He'll be a sophomore this coming year. I'm a proud mama! Anyway Il always be a MI girl at heart! Wondering who is in the area and cant really read over 4000 pages to find out! LOL

Nice photo of Scruffin. How'd you get him to pose? Mine doesn't like to sit still!

If you got some paint and were artistically inclined, that big rock could be made to look like a dog laying down and guarding your birds. See, his nose is on the right and his tail curves around his right hip....

And a couple of Mallard visitors with the other duckings
I like books with a bit of romance, as long as they have happy endings. Can't stand that Romeo and Juliet kind of thing.

You've got room in your fridge for all that food?!! Dang, I can barely find anything in mine. Oh for a 24 cu ft refrigerator! Alas my space will only fit the 18. *sigh*

I know, I've got a nice salmon fillet in my freezer. Plenty of time to thaw and smoke that. Haven't smoked salmon in YEARS.

Don't drink coffee, but I can join you with a nice cup of tea. Caffeine does nasty things to me so I save it for chocolate.
Last night, after I logged off, I thought I would read for a few minutes before calling it a night. The first thing I knew I was deeply involved in the book and read the entire book. While 5am has came painfully soon, I can now recommend a very good book. "One Summer" by David Baldacci. An excellent tale for those who are a romantic at heart.

Time to load the smoker. Once that is done I can take a much needed nap. A pan of saw dust takes about 1 1/2 hours to finish and that iust about the amount of time a nap should have; especially if I repeat it a couple of times.

Of course the coffee is on so come on in and have a cup with me before starting your day in earnest. A cup of coffee in the company of friends sure is a good way to start off the day. One of the things I missed while out of town was the mornings spent discovering all that had occurred in the realm of chickendom.

No it wasn't intended for anyone here. I meant to tell the story when I came in for the night but I stayed out until dark then took a shower and fell asleep.

I was unloading the triple shred mulch out front when the old lady from up the street came by walking her dog. She sees what I'm doing and says to me "You can't use that shovel. Everyone knows that you can't use a snow shovel for dirt."

I continued to load the barrow with the "snow" shovel and I said that it seems to work pretty well for me. She then says, "you're ignorant" and went away.

Why do I seem to attract the whackos???

That is a good looking dog.
Are those carboys of wine I see in the background?
I should try brewing wine some time but most wine doesn't agree with me.
When I ferment my beer, I keep the carboys in a dark closet. Sunlight isn't good for beer, does it affect wine?

RaZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Last time you were here, my yard was just a muddy barren plain...

LOOK! See the green growing? Yay for green! AND I think I changed my mind about this pine tree..it may have to be pulled out.

I tore the rest of this brick retaining wall down and put it in the next picture..

here: But I need some idea of what to put in the middle here. Do I do grass? I really dont want grass. What I really want is a ground cover that will fill in and be walkable. Grass cant be the only thing.
