Our forecast says 80's and 90's for the next 5 days with storms mixed in. Warm weather would be nice again. It is sprinkling this morning.

I can't believe CS is only a week away. I still haven't made a final decision on who is going. Is is worthwhile to tote down some bantam roosters? Do a lot of birds go? I also have some wild Sebrights who are not my favorite breed. I thought I would like the little girls but really just don't care for them.

I have to go buy a new sprinkler. Mine is broken and I feel like a real wimp here but I cannot get the sprayer off the hose. Not budge it not even a tiny bit. How am I supposed to get it off?

Anyone in Michigan need a rooster or two? Please?!? LOL. I have a few I need to rehome, my poor hens desperately need a break. I have a nearly 1 year old Wheaten Ameracauna roo, 2 approx 9 week old Wheaten or Blue Wheaten Ameracauna cockerels, along with several Serama roosters. You can see some pics in my post here:

Also can someone tell me where and when this CS is or point me to where to find the details? I've gone back several pages but haven't found the details yet.

I am totally devastated. I only have Roger left, and 3 dotte chicks. Leila, her two bio babies, her two adopted silkie chicks... Gone. effen coon got in. I can not find the bodies of Leila or 2 of the silkies, I found what was left of my blue-ish grey, part of one of the blacks and part of one of the goldens. SO SO SO mad! I am burning the **** tractor. I should have known not to build a **** tractor. It didn't dig under, it managed to pull the fencing off on the side. The side that is up against the dogs run too! Its only a 4 inch space there, just big enough a **** coon! The only place I hadn't finished the trim work yet cuz I ran out of wood and didn't have a free pay period again till next week. Thats why I put that side against the dog run... SO MAD!!


Going to set the trap tonight with whats left of my one dot, she's pretty much all there, and play with a .22 in the morning. Roger and his 3 charges are going to stay in the other coop with his first set of kiddos.


No, I am not going to burn the tractor. I am going to make it solid instead.

I know how you feel. Coon got in and got one of my Icelandic hens and her one baby that hatched and destroyed her eggs. I managed to save three eggs and threw them in the incubator and they did hatch a few days later. To date we have trapped 22 of those stupid things. And this hen was in a pen that I felt pretty secure with. If you are interested I have a few Cuckoo Marans chicks, 5 boys and 5 girls, or some Icelandic chicks I will gladly bring for you at CS. No charge to you because I know first hand how devasting it is for this to happen.

Meh. Some yes, some no. In general, yes, but it can be done. Still, you'd just be stacking the deck against yourself.

I feel so lucky that I have had absolutely no predators (as of yet, knock on wood) given all the wildlife we have out here. Mom saw a bobcat coming home from golf last night. Just another predator in our neck of the woods. My DH says I am over doing the safety aspect, but I don't think so. Rather be safe than sorry.
