Mom 2em all, Oh my God what is wrong with people? Tell your Mommy she can move next to me and she can feed the birdies all she wants and I will take care of her snow and leaves and whatever else. I just don't understand people sometimes. Don't they have anything better to do with their lifes? Now I am mad whats their address? Me and my dog will go pay them a visit.

Awww thank you- I have no idea what is wrong with people. I know that my mom would do anything for anyone if she was capable, and she hates to ask anyone for help for anything, just keeps to herself. Something wrong with this man- he never ever moved out of his house, and eventually his parents moved out...ummm..

Anyhoo- she was pretty depressed today, didnt talk to me but a minute, and I was so busy, I didnt get a chance to call anyone. Taylor puts out a newsletter- and I found a copy from 2008 that says, "Hang bird feeders at least four feet off the ground"..they are talking about trying to control Taylor's rat problem....so any ordinance would have to have been written after that article. And if not, then the city is wrong.
I will look into it, though.

SO Hot...I came home to see if I had fried chimichangas for OLIVE, but they are still surviving in this heat. Smarter than they look.

I just spent an hour being interviewed by a reporter for the local paper. She admitted to knowing nothing about chickens and was amazed at how they came running when called and lined up to be petted (groped). She also liked the various sizes and colours of the eggs.

(It just dawned on that I should have given her a dozen

)

She also had a photographer come out as well. Some of the shots were posers that I thought was kind of funny. I wonder if Fabio got started that way. At least I was wearing a BYC t-shirt.

Now I'm anxious to see how the article gets written. I think it will be positive.

Thanks for the responses. I posted my question to you all, figuring I'd get an answer, but I also researched... looked at poop charts... ect... Anyway, I figured it was heat issues, and she's the only one affected, or it was ascitis symptoms... However, she has not left to cold sled since I refilled it when I got home. She did go over to eat, and then right back to the cold sled. LOL. Its funny to see the chickens walk through the sled. I have well water, and it is COOOOOOOOLD! Like you do not need ice, cold. Well anyway. I went out with cold grapes from the freezer. I put them in for 30 minutes to get them nice and chilly. About a pound + worth, and the meat chickens even enjoyed them. I made sure to give her (Not named yet) several. I sent John to meijer to get to cold watermelon halfs, split them all up, and brought them out just a few minutes ago. I picked her up and gave her a section on her own, and she tore it up! I am going to force her to sleep in the garage tonight since it is much cooler than the summer coop. I hope that she just isn't handling the heat well. The poop does not give any indication of worms. Just one more question, with her having this problem, would it be all right to give her bottom a soak to get the nasties off of it? It is not blocking her vent, and I do not want it to either.

RaZ, I am glad you were able to get your story out there with the reporter. I am sure that you were able to make an excellent case for the keeping of chickens. You have very lovely birds.

I wonder is that is what my mystery bird is... campine... she has that pattern sorry of. Legs are the right color, but her head is dark and her body light... Will have to look them up now.

VJ, The blues are boys. The whites, pretty sure are girls at this point, heehee, and the black is kinda iffy, is already got comb development, but not near as much as those blues. The combs on the blues are just to big already to not be boys.

Got a dozen eggs today. Have 2 new layers today. I think Belle Mai laid her first egg today. It is the exact same size and color of Leila's eggs.. Was a bit bloody on the shell. AND I also got a nearly white egg! And why is that something to get excited about? Well... I haven't had a white egg layer since Miss Legs got dogged.

Mom, to bad your mom is... Well, to bad she doesn't stand up for herself... She should have asked to see a copy of the ordinance she was being sited for. She doesn't have to pay a fine does she? She could ask to see the ordinance when she/you goes to deal with it...

When my hen had pneumonia she had diarrhea and panted. Those were the symptoms. I know that was in the Fall, so it is probably not what your girl has but I just wanted to mention it.
I could also hear a bit of a rasp when she breathed.
Hope your hen cools off and does fine!

Oh, no, she's got clear eyes, nostrils, cant hear nothing as she's breathing. But thank you. I am hoping she's not going to keep having problems with the heat... I think probably with the crazy changes we are having... its probably just affected her the worst. I am thinking of getting some gatorade for them... Now... just what flavor... LOL
