Really fantastic, Silly. Really. :)

---------

A friend of mine is looking to add 4-6 hens to her flock, so I get to shop for her at Chickenstock since she can't make it. If anyone has non-babies let me know and I'll look for you at CS. :)

Also- Anyone have any good Kid-Friendly tent-camping site recommendations in Michigan?

Sugarloaf State Campground in Waterloo is great. Good swim area, playground, nice bathrooms and showers. Also, lots of weekends they have people come out from the Eddy Discovery Center and do programs. They also typically have a campground host who serves coffee and donuts in the morning.

Her crop is good. That was one of the first things I checked. I even stuck my nose in her mouth! Not kidding. I mean, its wide open from her breathing.
It could be respiratory. The lungs run down the inside of the chicken along the intestines and the inflammation in the lungs can cause diarrhea.
She would need an antibiotic (pennicillan type) pretty quick to beat a serious pneumonia. You could give the antibiotic while you wait for worm results.

Well I just sat here bottom in a bowl of air temp water after I cut off a clump of poo. Rinsed her up pretty good, now she is preening. She is eating ravenously. Jumping up to get what ever I have out of my hands before I even have a chance to set it down. Ripping the plastic off the bread bag! So, appetite is good. Gonna go get my poop sample to the vet... Well HER poop sample!

Howdy Ya'll!

Haven't been on in a while, been sick, then busy, then traveling, then busy again...I hope everyone is well. :)

All my chickens are fairing this heat pretty well. We covered the top of the run so they would hang out there instead of in the coop. I can home yesterday and most of them were lounging in the run, however all my batams decided it was a great time to hang out in the hot coop and brood. :: sigh ::

I believe I have 3 roos in the flock that I need to get rid of. I will probably take them up to the poltry processing farm if i don't get any takers. They were posted on Craigslist for free but I think they were too young for anyone to be interested in them. Oh well.

...Stay cool!

what exactly do you mix for the sugar, iodine mix. (amounts?) never know when it could be handy
Anyway, my pullet is worse today. She's still eating drinking and walking around, still skeets, and even thinner today than yesterday.
Nova, the first thought i had when you were describing her comb was dehydration, which makes sense if she has the poops. If you are going to buy something, i highly suggest the manna pro showbird supplement, because it is a concentrated nutrition that is easily digested, and there are beneficial bacteria in it that balances the insides, as well as high-fiber content. I have used it successfully on treating chronic diarrhea in my mean orp after she got it from being wormed.
I don't normally like recommending "brands" for health, but this specific product has been crucial to saving the birds i have saved, and a part of what made the chicks that didn't make it do so well, and happy before they died.
If there is a chance that she got into something that wasn't good for her, go for the charcoal paste in the tubes, it will soak up some of the poison. (mold poison makes super green poos too)
Although fruit has a lot of water, i would avoid it since it will make diarrhea worse.

Good Morning Michigan!

Well, it's finally arrived, the better weather that is. Sadly, it's supposed to cool off and rain on the weekend, so I guess we won't be taking the boat out. Why does all the good weather occur during the week?

The momma goat is finally getting better. But the crows are a serious problem. First it was eggs, now they are killing adolescent ducklings. We have lost about 15 so far. "He Who Must Be Obeyed" is furious.

Off to romp with the dog - have a great day everyone, try and keep cool. It looks like it won't get over 77 here. NICE!

Jamie, I thought that maybe you had abandoned us. Glad you are feeling better. Hopefully we will see you at Chickenstock.

I went out this morning and bought a flock of chickens. Tonight I will let then sit in a bath so that they will be ready for their big adventure tomorrow.

I have been SOOOO busy this week! I'm going to re-read and respond properly tonight.

My mom just called and said she went to check on her chicks and every last silkie had been killed and eaten or half eaten! She had 10 that are the same ages as mine. She's so ******! Her coop is like frickin' Fort Knox too. She's killed so many coons lately and she really thought she had everything coon-proof. Anyway, she's devastated and I was wondering if anyone coming to CS is bringing silkies that they are just giving away? If not it's okay, I'm not going to replace her flock myself by buying them but if anyone has a surplus and just wants good homes I'd take some back for her. You can bet there won't be a coon alive for a 5 mile radius by the time she's done! She'll camp out all night for a week. Lol
