Just got done watering the landscaping and noticed the temp is slowly rising. For you south of here it's probably already more noticable.

Snowflake: Questions....the plant that you so kindly gave me @ CS, it repels bugs & mesquitoes. Can i put it in the chicken coop? Would it be harmful if one decided to nibble on it?? I can always place outside of the coop if so.
still have a ## of posts to catch up on thought I would answer ? first..... I think you have fever few,,,,my chickens don't touch it... I have it in the run. One of the writers in the Back yard poultry, I think Susan Burek an Herbalist Moonlight Mile Herb Farm,MI that said it is good for keeping bugs out of the coop, that Sweet Annie and something else, ?? she hangs it in the coop and crushes it and spreads it on the floor. After it flowers it well spread seed every were if you let it. cut before it goes to seed if you don't want it to spread I let it grow were ever it wants then cut it down when it gets a couple feet tall. if you cut back it will get bushy it is also used for head aches fresh and dried in a tea.

took my broody hen off her eggs...she was way too hot...it's not worth losing her. One of her eggs actually exploded!!! Thank goodness they have only been under her for about 2 days now!

Thanks! I think I'm gonna let it go to seed and then transplant a bunch outback!!

I thought it might be nice if everyone put their pic up as their avatar for say, 24 hours so us "visitors" could get to know you all.

Surprise.....it's me! lol

How about running a cord and setting up one of those tornado fans to blow it straight back at them? I mean, it's your mom's yard and if she wants to blow air on her fence to keep the paint from melting I don't see any reason she can't.
Love it

Hi guys! I am new to this site, and actually new to chickens in general. We started our first flock just a few months ago and it has been a fun and fascinating hobby! We love it!
I am blown away by this website, it is so cool to connect with chicken enthusiasts all over the country! I was recently directed to this part of the social forum and how cool to connect with fellow Michiganders!!

So HOT today! makes me wish the air conditioner in my car hadn't broke last week!

Anyway, just wanted to say hi and introduce myself. (my name is Rachel and I'm located in Lowell, which is in west michigan, not far from grand rapids)
Welcome,

I sold him and his two ladies as meat birds last Sunday. BUT I saved at least 15 eggs from them! I pray that over 50 percent of them hatch.

Also, glad that your sister's operation whet well, was praying for her.
We would appreciate prayers for my little nephew- Micah- Meaning ''Who is like God.''
This image was taken when he was 20 weeks old. I love his smile.

His mommy and daddy- My oldest brother and his wife. This was taken when they first found out that they were expecting him.

He is now 24 weeks old. He is due in October 26th, if he survives that long, if he does, he will die as soon the cord is cut, for he has serious heart issue, and many other issues.

The doctors have found what is causing him to have these problems. His 5th and 14th chromosomes have for some reason had broken off, so the blueprint for Micah was missing information to build him, resulting lots of problems. Plus the broken parts had reattached themselves to the different parts of the chromosomes, making the building process confused with the misinformation. I am so sad for the little guy, but I know that God knows what is best for him and all of us. We still continue to treat Micah as a human being, which he is very much so, and love him as part of the family. I love him, even though I have never held him or met him.
always liked the name Micah,, prayers for you family,,, very very sad

Farmerboy, I'm so sorry. My sister had twins who were stillborn. Though I never met the girls, I still love them, and miss them so much. Micah has a lovely smile. Thoughts of peace and comfort for you and his parents.

It is so cool to see the people I "talk" to !

On another note, Daron, I'm so sorry about your sister. Keep the little one in your prayers, an I'll be keeping fingers crossed for your whole family

Nova - still keeping fingers crossed for your sister. Sounds good so far.

Well, got to go and check on "Duncan" my little bait cockerel. He is in the crow trap. If the crows still keep avoiding it, Duncan gets a reprieve this weekend. I'm kind of hoping he makes it, he's such a nice boy, not even crowing yet.

Wish all you guys could send me some nice weather.

And is that OPA's avatar, what a handsome man!
