Good Morning everyone!

Sam- where are you? Been sitting here drinking coffee for an hour now with no company.

Im taking my girls to the Wyandotte Street Fair today. Supposed to rain..oh well, such is life.
We will have a good time anyhow.

I got a double-yolker bantam egg this morning! I made my husband an egg sandwich, and it was a complete surprise to find two yolks in a normal size egg. :)

I have one chicken that is laying shell-less or very little shelled eggs. I suspect it is the Notmeaty girl. I have crumble out there, and laying pellets and a bowl of oyster shell. I dont know really what else I can do for her.

I hope you all have wonderful weekend plans!

What constitutes a good cup of coffee is a topic in the same category as religion or politics; everyone has their own opinion. Personally I use a Bunn coffeemaker and really like the fact that it prepares a good pot of coffee in record time. However, from a nostalgic perspective I miss the whole of experience of percolating coffee. The anticipation builds in a crescendo of your senses. Sight, sound, smell all are tantalized by the brewing experience. My own grind of choice is Folgers Black Silk since I prefer a dark roast full bodied coffee. A fact that many aren't aware of is that the dark roast coffees while having a richer stronger coffee flavor actually have less caffeine. The longer roasting process cooks it off.

Day 5 in the latest round of the "Raccoon War" has resulted in yet another of the annoying critters earning my assistance in shuffling off this mortal coil. I no longer bother with setting any of my live traps and have been using the Duke dog proof traps exclusively. Unfortunately I am down to only 2 so yesterday I ordered 2 more traps from Coon Collector. Same basic idea of a dog proof trap but with a slightly different holding mechanism. According to the manufacturer it is less painful and as a result there is less trap circle. It will be interesting to see if it lives up to their claims.

So what I thought was a Black copper maran mix has turned out to look more like a RIR mix
She has tuffs coming in on her cheeks and is almost lavender on her rump and wing feathers
but her head looks like a hawk... she is one of a kind!
She is from the eggs I got from Lovemychicklets
NOODLE
I still vote easter egger, she looks a lot like the baby i made from my "lemon blue?" "blue quail?" hen and my "silver quail?" "silver duckwing?" boy. Watch her comb, my chick showed himself a red comb at 6 weeks, and he is darker than his momma, with the barring. Depending on an easter-egger's parentage, they may or may not have the poufy face or the green legs.

Here is a site that shows a few of the EE babies, and what they looked like as they grew up-they will change a lot, even after their first feathers!

Snowflake, I still have another hen for you. Some of the girls are very silly, the boys tend to be more social.
I dont have to buy coyote pee, the coyotes up here deliver it for free.
so do you have a coon problem? Or do the coyotes take care of them before they grow up and become a nuisance?

Yup, here too. And I'm in the city. (Though on the outskirts a few blocks down from a wooded green area) And no, it doesn't keep the coons away.

HEY Randy!!!!!

HOW ABOUT A PICTURE OF SEBASTIAN SO i CAN SEE HOW HE IS GROWING
YES! :D
OH OLIVE..

You really DO NEED them!
I have to admit, as much as I resisted, I really enjoy watching that crazy looking Uggo in my yard. You DO need them, Olive. ;)

CRAP, CRAP CRAP. Lost 6 juvenile guineas to coons last night. The little idiots would not go in their **** pen. We had 2 Duke traps set up at the corners. Must have been more than one coon because there are 5 bodies missing. One coon in a trap. That sucker is DEAD. I wish the guineas setting would hatch something but I think they're clueless, they've been setting for 2 months now and nothing. I've got 11 left. No matter how frustrating and scratched up I get the rest have to into their pen tonight. DH is also going to set a kill trap on the roof.

Awww so sorry for the little keets. As much as I hate winter and the cold I'm kinda wishing it was here. With snow on the ground the stupid coons stay denned up !!

Contrary to my membership on this forum, I don't even like most regular chickens. In fact, most chickens straight up repulse me. If it weren't for eggs I wouldn't keep them at all.

Can't really imagine Uggos will be any different. They're still dust and poo machines, just in an uglier package.
