In 1973 or 4, my husband ordered 300 of those trees. It took us almost a week to get them all planted. Guess he was planning on growing his own forest. Today many still remain. The deer use them for cover and settle in for the night to sleep. I love the deer but last winter the little buggers jumped my fence and ate my hedge. It was rough on them with the deep snow so I won't hold a grudge. In all th years I have lived her, last winter was the first time they jumped the fence.
Have fun LoveMyChicklets. If I remember correctly, we planted many of our trees in the rain. I think I was just a little upset with DH.

Morning all- looks like a great day.

Sam- just wondering how long those hoses come. Looks like a great plan to have in place in case I need to jump start the body before the feet get to the floor.

moving chicks to garage from living room today.

Snuff is available in little packets for those that want to dip but don't want all of that loose tobacco in their mouth. With that in mind I wonder if the single serving coffee that comes in teabag like packets could be used the same way. In the mornings you could take one off the night stand and place it in your mouth until the caffeine kicks in.

My DH just put a bid in for a remodel in Lansing. If he gets it it will take him about 3 weeks to complete. We are planning on working outside all day tommorrow. Wish it was on completing the second coop but alas he is borrowing a friends Kubota to move around a bunch of dirt we got from the road commission digging out ditches. I guess that is a good thing. Maybe our yard won't flood out so bad now.

I think your husband had great vision, even if it started out wet, lol. Your land is beautiful, Gayle. I love your area and how pretty and secluded your property is.

I wanted to let everyone know how AWSOME MJ is. She is such a sweet nuturing woman. We had a great time and she has nice things to say about everyone. I loved seeing all her fowl and it was neat to see how someone else sets up their housing and pens. We did not have her stuff any chicks in our pockets (maybe that was because we took some willingly) but she did fill our bellies with yummy treats. I would love to have people come visit me but I hope they would not expect me to be able to compete with MJ's treats. She is such an awsome baker. I seriously need recipes.

I saw a post in I think Texas where they were doing coop tours around the austin area. They had maps for each tour. It seemed like a really cool idea. They had booties at each location to protect the flocks from contamination.

Good Morning! That sun looks mighty inviting. I'm gonna take my dogs for a nice long walk in the park. Love walking. You all have a good day. Vicki, you be careful with Shelley's babies. Guess I'll see you next week!

Yep, I'm in Davison. I'm sure we can get a few more people involved in our chicken express and move chickens where ever needed!

Thank you Cathy. I love it out here too but I am having problems keeping it up all by myself. I have been seriously thinking of moving closer to Jackson, finding a much smaller house with no land. It deffinately won't be the same as I so enjoy all the nature. Last year we had a fox den out back and I watched the little babies play in the field and grow up. I know the foxes are not the best neighbors if one has chickens but they never caused any problems and were much nicer than the skunk family that occupied the woodpile before the them. It seemed like the skunks had to spread their perfume evey evening.
