I am so impressed with my bantam hens abilities to solve a problem. I could not figure out how they were getting a chick up and over the pavers that I have stacked a foot high in front of the run door. I have sand stone stacked around the perimiter of the inside of the run... They figured out that the baby is too small to get up the pavers, so they found a low spot and they literally herd her around the edge of the run untill she is at the top of the pavers. Baby then leaps down into the yard and has a ball pretending to be a big chicken. I have placed a make shift drawbridge for the baby to get back in with.
On a sad note, I found my serama baby laying, dead next to the coop. There were no obvious signs of injury, but I have a feeling she was knocked off the popdoor and broke her neck. My other baby is thriving. I have no issues with any of the other chickens in the flock regarding her.
