Please excuse me everyone! I am a week behind -- in my mind, I was thinking the 20th was this coming Monday. I guess I had a moment! This week has flown by so I guess that's my excuse.

Hey check out the video I took last week out in our yard. I took it through the window and I'm not good at taking video but you can still see it.

I was going to pm it to you but I thought I would share with everyone here. Enjoy!

How hilarious is that! They're so cute! I love baby deer. They smell like maple syrup and make cute noises. lol

I am so impressed with my bantam hens abilities to solve a problem. I could not figure out how they were getting a chick up and over the pavers that I have stacked a foot high in front of the run door. I have sand stone stacked around the perimiter of the inside of the run... They figured out that the baby is too small to get up the pavers, so they found a low spot and they literally herd her around the edge of the run untill she is at the top of the pavers. Baby then leaps down into the yard and has a ball pretending to be a big chicken. I have placed a make shift drawbridge for the baby to get back in with.

On a sad note, I found my serama baby laying, dead next to the coop. There were no obvious signs of injury, but I have a feeling she was knocked off the popdoor and broke her neck. My other baby is thriving. I have no issues with any of the other chickens in the flock regarding her.

smarty pants chickens! i have watched them pile up and climb in the corner of my little house over some chicken wire. and run up a wire fence. crazy little things!

sorry for your little serama Cat.

Have a question for you -- Do you close up all your windows in the coop every night? I have two windows in my coop and usually leave the one open which faces into the run. We have racoon sign around here. Thankfully, not by the coop. My brother set a trap tonight (using marshmellows) and is hunting with dogs tonight, too. I did close both windows tonight. Just worried about it getting too stuffy. By the way the windows are covered in chicken wire (I know that they should have hardware cloth, but need to get some). So what would you do?

Yea it all happened so fast i couldnt get the licence plate number but i got the important part the little poor kittens. but we cant really keep any because we already have two indoor cats. I called the human society and they said they may have to put them down. because they are flooded. so im gonna try and find them a good home i mean even if they got to be spayed and neudered barn cats id be happy.

Yep there are two ventilation vents in the roof (those do have hardware cloth). I know I need to get some and soon. Maybe tomorrow. The windows themselves are plexiglass with a wooden frame. The chicken wire is the screen. So would you still leave the one window open (the one that faces into the run), even though I don't have hardware cloth up right now. I guess I felt a little safer because it faced into the run (I know coons are crafty little buggers!). Let me know what you think.

We have so many coons around and they are now raising their second batch of babies, so they are hungry, I would not take a chance, right now. I would probably not open the windows.... right now the nights are not too bad and you have ventilation. I would get hardware cloth as soon as you can, though.

if your run is covered, you might be okay for coons, but not for weasels. weasels can fit into anything that a hot dog can fit into. (chicken wire).

i leave all my windows open at night. all of them have hardware cloth but one. it has only chicken wire. i've never had a problem, but that doesn't mean i wont. we are hardware clothing that one asap.

speaking of...i have one coop to go close that my kids had trouble locking up....brb....
