Hey I know that Barn!

I didn't go far enough west!

That is my church across the street, Fowlerville United Brethren.

The barn is still in great shape and the same things are across the street.

The barn that is just to the east at Gregory Rd. on the south side is starting to collapse. The roof is about all the way down, the wind storms didn't help it any.

Glad to know someone who use to live 10 minutes from me!

Hi Kathy!

A few years ago we would have been neighbors! I lived in Bangor right off M-43 for 23 years. That I built that big silver quonset barn on 24th Ave East of CR-687.

Trust me when I say that Hawaii is a lot different than frigid Michigan, but small farming communities are the same everywhere. I still grow fruit, just mangos instead of apples and I still spend Saturday mornings either selling or buying at the local Farmersʻ Markets.

Good luck getting thru the winter from sunny Hawaii and say hello to Bob Shine and his family!

The snowstorm is amazing. It's pulling up a TON of moist air from the south. A line from GRR (Grand Rapids Airport) to Tawas will get the most. We're supposed to have almost 10 inches by tomorrow, which means that I might not have to go to work (whee!).

I have been sitting here watching the radar on and off for several hours. I love severe weather.

us too! Rick has plowed the drive twice already. hopefully, there is no school tomorrow as we are rural and the buses have a really hard time.

once, my kids were stuck on the bus for over 2 hrs. because it slid off the road and couldn't get traction. we all had to go rescue our kids.

Rick will probably call in to work, as it is 1.5 hrs away already and with this fun, he will be spending more time getting there than working!

it is pretty though! big huge flakes. wonder how many trees will break with the weight in the night?

Someone moved my coops. I went out at 4pm to shovel a path to access the birds and I swear that it is much further than it was the last time I shoveled. I have two driveways. One is 65' long, 16' at the road and 28' at the garage. Hope gave me a hand with that one, and my other drive (200') can wait until David comes in the morning with our snowplow. I am getting entirely to old for snowshoveling. As hard as it's snowing now it I'll probably have to do everything all over again.

it's amazing what little hands can do!

they were just out with Rick putting the meaties away. the ding dongs must know tomorrow is 'd-day'. they refused to go in. bedded down in the snow.

the kids had to pick up EACH one of them and put them in the hoop house! and in a snow storm! they are all soaked. it took two hours!

i utilize them well.

Miss_Jayne it sounds like you and Rick are on the right track. I kept my sons busy, they had chores and responsibilties. I did a lot for them and with them, but I still expected alot from them. I'm extremely proud of how all 3 turned out. An example of what you get. Today I didn't go hunting and my best friend forgot to call me to tell me he was going. I already had alot going when he called to tell me he was sitting in the woods. He is older than I am so I told him not to drag a deer out of the woods if he got one, to call me and I would come out to help. My lease is 20 miles west of my home. David and Amy stop by this afternoon while out shopping and he said "With the way the weather turned out I'm glad we didn't go today" Me too except Bob went. Shortly after dark David called to see if I had heard from Bob. He lives 10 miles north of me and he was heading down to give me a hand if Bob needed help. He said he didn't want either one of us dragging a deer out without his help. Sure is a good feeling to have someone care so much for you.

We measured 6 inches of snow at 8:00am. The kids are out building a snow person/thing. We are having an extended physical education time today for school:D

The snow is great for packing but terrrible for shoveling!

he's a good man! tell him to keep a kid's sled for dragging a deer...works like a charm out in the woods! that's what we use.

when we teach them to honor and respect us, they will do it for others. i think my husband would pass out before letting someone older on our road not get help from him, and my kids get it too.

my children got upset when they saw the elderly neighbor's garden cleared for the season recently. they freaked out that they didn't know so they could help.

then we caught him planting bulbs a few weeks ago (same elderly, NOT healthy gent). i thought Elizabeth was going to blow a gasket asking US why he didn't call us....

GOOD GIRLS and YOUNG MAN i have!

the 14 yr. old woke up at 5 and helped us load the cornish X in the snow. (we only had to load 33 each!

) and we got about 8" here. she stayed up to make sure we got to the processor in the snow, helped the others with food and chores.

I LOVE MY AWESOME KIDS!!!!
