Hi All,
My hubby and I plan to go deer hunting also. On the real bad days he may not be able to go. He has degenerative arthritis and the bad days put him in too much pain. We have both hunted, fished and camped all of our lives and hope to continue. Besides I love venison. The sad part is there are not as many places to hunt anymore.
I found out my little black silkie is sitting on 7 eggs. God willing, she will at least hatch out a couple. We should know sometime next week!
We don't know if any of our kids will be here for Thanksgiving or not. All have their own families and plans you know. Families are not always as close as you wished and hoped they would be.
Got our trailer closer for winter , by putting plastic around. Boy the geese are sure flying all over!!! Love to watch them, hate what it means!!

I too enjoy watching the skeins of geese flying overhead. The Canadas around here don't bother to migrate anymore, so the one that really get me excited are the snow geese. Absolutely beautiful to watch in flight. The way the sunlight catches their wings making the entire flock look like they have flashing lights reminds me that God really did know what he was doing. I know what you mean about the holidays feeling different with the kids all so far away. Sometimes, I wish they had never grown up; but then a moment later I stop that maudlin line of thinking. I glad they have all grown to become such fine men.

Hi All!!
Didn't get any deer yet. Saw some, but not in a place where we could shoot them.
We did see a big piliated woodpecker, and a big flock of sand hill cranes too.
Spent most of the day out in the woods. Sure was cold!!! This morning we decided to stay in and will go out later.
Went out to check on all our chickens and they are doing just fine. Even the babies seem to be doing good.
Have a wonderful day!!!

Took my six year old great nephew with me deer hunting this evening. I figured he wouldn't be able to sit still for very long. I was wrong he made all most 2 minutes before he started fidgeting. What time do the deer get here? Can I chase them? What do you have to eat? Can I have some more candy? How long are we staying? If it keeps snowing how are we going to get home? Can we get out of the blind and have a snowball fight? Where are the deer? Do deer eat turkeys? When will the deer get here? I'm cold. Are we going to miss supper? All of that was in just the first half hour. However, in spite of making more noise that I remember sons making at that age we still saw 50 deer. One nice doe came with in 40 yards and in aloud voice he asks "Can we shoot that one". She immediately look up at us and started stamping her foot. When she finally relaxed and started to walk off I shot her. Bill start hollering "we got her, we got her". Then he tells me "you did a real good job and I saw her fall". All in all it was a pretty rewarding afternoon and one little boy went home very happy.

My daughter, Rachel, pet chicken, Joy, passed away this morning.

She had been on antiboditics last month and never got 100% better. She didn't eat much, Rachel having to help her and encourage her to do so.

Sad day at home. Trying to get some work done. Hard with a sad heart and kids with colds.

It also doesn't help with the cold weather.

So sorry to hear that, Sarah. Joy must really be sad. My prayers are with you and your family, and Joy should take comfort in knowing that her darling pet is no longer suffering and is in an absolutely wonderful place. God bless!

Miss_Jayne:

No Joy was not at the show. She wouldn't of shown well so she stayed home. She was a Buff Orpington.

Opa:

Usually it is no big deal when a chicken dies. This was the chick that Rachel loved on since they arrived in the mail. She followed Rachel all around too.

Thank you all for the condolances.

Last night our church had a youth rally with Dr. Amato. He had 6 Detroit Lions with him. I got to escort the Lions and 3 of their wives around and help them out. It was a lot of fun. Rachel got to meet them and get their autographs too. The players signed autographs after the event for over an hour.

I am off to get everything going...it is really cold out there today!

Sarah
