today is day 20 and there appears to be a pip!

Steve - we caught sooo many walleye last year, we just finished off the last meal this weekend. Delicious!! We went out every day and caught our limit each time. Green Bay is a walleye hot spot -- sometimes better the Bay De Noc. Hubby's boat is all set for when the ice goes out. That's why this snow makes us sick!

Green Bay, down by Ford River?

I was up to Escanaba when the Cabelas walleye fishing tournament was going on, I never seen so many boats in my life.

Green Bay by Menominee. We fish right 2 miles off shore. Last summer we hosted 2 different walleye tournaments - one was Cabella the other I'm not sure. For the Cabella's one, 580 teams started Saturday morning. The winning fish was caught off of Door County. i don't remember exactly how big weight wise it was. But the following weekend, DH and DS caught one that was 2o lbs. That was a big fish!

Smelt should be in the stores soon - always around during Lent. Last year I couldn't get alot cuz the ice fishermen were using them for bait. Good thing we have a lot of commerical fishermen around here. We also get plenty of trout - both lake and brook. Perch are still hard to come by, but they are on the up swing. Last summer, we went on vacation in Eagle River Wi, and came home with 6 meals of fresh perch. That was great. We limited out twice!! If you can't tell by now, my family is pretty big on fishing. We try to eat fish every week, more in the summer. Its great cuz where we live, you can get as much fresh fish as you can catch:)

Hi All!!!
What a yuckie day:rant:mad::tongue It is so mushey and nasty out our way.
Steve, I will also be praying for your son, and hope you have a great day with your grandson. We also enjoy our grandkids. Our youngest grandson always comes up with some of the cutest things to say.

In 1989 I caught a nice channel cat in Manistique River. The Dnr were right there and convinced me to enter it in the state. I wound up being the Master Angler of the week and getting a Fred Trost fishing award and going to the big banquet. That was pretty cool seeing all those other big fish that others caught. I think I got to be master angler cause I was a woman and so nervous with all the cameras on me that I talked like a DUCK!!!

Hope the little squirrel gets better. My hubby always has to keep telling me that I can't keep every wild critter I find.

I think with all of us and all the prayers that God is surely listening.

Our one son that lives here, had his last day of work and was so worried about having any kind of income. So I suggested that he sign up for unemployment. He didn't think it would do him any good, but to humor me, did it. He was notified that he qualifies. So that will help him until he finds something else. God does work in mysterious ways:love I am so grateful for what he has done for us.
Hope you all have a wonderful day, in spite of the snow. Spring will be here before we all know it and we can then enjoy all the beautiful flowers and new little fuzzies !!!!

Your son is in our prayers today Steve. I hope this would be his last surgery for his sake. Enjoy the day with Aiden, I'm sure he'll keep you on your toes.

The weather isn't as bad as I expected today, but crappy nonetheless.

Hi We live in the UP of Michigan too...that's above Wisconsin, for clarification. Supposed to have a winter watch tonght. It was snowing and blowing this morning but not much snow, mostly windy...recirculating the snow we already have. LOL>
We currently have ducks and daughter has a light on in the box in the barn and one out in the coop....one in the playhouse for the supposably mandarins that she got last fall, I'm getting a coop ready so we can pick up our adult BLRW chickens this week. It won't have a light but has a heavy rug over the one area to keep the draft out. I have to fix the egg nest box cover yet.
I'm thinking winter is SO OLD and really got spoiled with the last thaw we had....its too soon for winter to be over in this country up here, but I sure am tired of it. So, I am going to start seeds today and think positive!!

, MikkeyP!

Been way over in your neck 'o the woods last August. DH and I really enjoy off road truck racing, and Bark River has great camping, is a gorgeous area, and has the most awesome race track!

I'm with you, though....I'm SICK of winter by now!

Hey, MJ - any progress on your pip?

thanks keep sending those "snow vibes"
Cristi - I know I used to live in Hancock area it is snow 9 months out of the year. I feel for you. I do love the fishing up there and anywhere for that matter in Michigan. We have big bass here and alligators and water moc's and yucky looking water (many mand made ponds nothing like the beautiful great lakes) especially the clarity of superior!!!!!
I am sending you warm vibes!!!!
