We had a goat once. When Steve Jr. was born he was allergic to milk....but not goats milk. So I bought a milk goat and milked that durn goat morning and night before I went to work at the farm. Since we started farming at 6 am I needed to get up waaay earlier than that to milk that durn goat.

It tasted good, I'll say that.

When I was fresh out of College, and had my first farm I had considered dairy cows since the barn was already set up for that, but instead opted to raise feeder pigs.

good morning everyone!

goats milk is my favorite! so good.

babies hatching like ca-ra-zaaay here.

today a gentlemen is bringing eggs for me to incubate for his 11 yr old son. i am thrilled to do this as it would bolster the young man's learning and encourage him to do for himself.

I am working on hubby to let me get a goat. My aunt used to raise them when I was a kid. Once during Sping Break - i spent all my vacations there - i went in to do morning chores. 3 goats were preggers. No babies when i went in. Left to go get something, came back 10 min? later, all 3 babies were born. That was cool.

Thanks Cat! Hubby's agrument is that it took forever to build the chicken coop during prime fishing time, how long will it take to build something for more critters? You know you just can't get one of anything:drool

Good Morning everyone!
No snow here, just cold wind. Nasty cold.

For some reason out of my 24 chickens 17 are in one coop and only 7 in the other. I think I will move some of my mutts tonight and get the numbers evened out.

Green eggs and ham! Don't forget Dr. Suess' B-day is March 2nd! I know because I just put in in my March newsletter for the daycare. We always have green eggs and ham that day.

I LOVE that gumpsgirl bread recipe. It is my new favorite. I will have to try the cherries in it sounds yummy.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good morning everyone!! It's been a couple days since I've been on here and it has taken me almost an hour to get up to date!!

Steve, I'm glad your son's surgery went well, hopefully they can get to the bottom of everything so there won't be more! And your grandson is just the cutest!!

And all the hatching going on at MJ's!

And I am making some of that bread today!!

From reading from everyone in the UP got me to thinking about pasties.....(I'm hungry, haven't had breakfast yet!) I used to work in a pastie shop in St. Ignace, so I'm making some of those today too!

It's cold and blustery and snowing here right now! I was going to take my mom to Charlotte yesterday for her cousin's luncheon, but the weather put us off again! We still haven't gotten together with my brother's and sister to have Christmas yet!! My mom is getting scared in her upper years and doesn't want to travel!

Off to my baking!!! Think happy spring thoughts!!

Good morning everyone. It was -3 here actual temp, but the wind is really gusting. I forked hay for the horses across the street and came in to warm up, now I'll go do the goats, other 2 horses, and ducks and rabbits. Even the dog made a quick turn-around this am when he went to do his business...

Chrisy17...yes, we are in Iron River area. I'm going to go to Norway, MI today to get some feed as soon as I finish feeding the animals out there.

The truck will be running so as t be warm when I get in, anyway.

mantra: " No alligators, no snakes, no hurricaines...." LOL
