Good Morning!

You guys are kinda quiet this morning!

Today is my oldest son's 13th b-day!

I can't believe that is is 13! He doesn't much care for cake so he has requested his favorite, Apple Pie! Mmmmmm!

We are already low on venison with 123 days left till deer season and out of chicken. everything else looks yummy too, except we have never had caribou. Funny since I grew up eating unusual stuff including porcupine and snapping turtle.

I am thinking of making the pie in a 9x13 pan so we have enough for everyone. Either that or I will make to regular pies.
I am not sure how he got to be a teenager....oh it just kills me to say that, I still think of him as a young boy.

At least he isn't a meanie teenager yet, like some I know. I hope he stays that way!

Wow, reading all that freezer food and canned items makes me really start to think about trying canning this year. Last year I just blanched and froze a lot of garden vegetables..... Is it difficult canning?

Good morning! Just updated over in Incubating & Hatching that my 'bator eggs all seem to have something growing in them as of Day 7! I'm very surprised and excited, hope I don't mess things up too much now (was only expecting about 50% to have made it this far) ... first timer!

This batch is 9 that were mailed to me, 3 from my coop and 3 from my fridge! I *think* one is from my Polish hen, and last time we tried to put one of them under a broody, it wasn't fertile. Also one is from a bantam frizzle. There are 3 possible dads for the 6 homegrown mutts... going to be interesting!

I would love a canning party. It is always more fun with company.

I really need to go get chicken food. I have been procrastinating for far too long. This way I can't stop at MJs and have even more chicks. I have 12 that have hatched so far, and lots more on the way.

I was expecting chicks from townline this morning. I am so mad, they put me on backorder. Now I will have 2 different aged chicks. (I have a batch going out from ideal today) My mom was supposed to stop by on her way back from Kentucky to pick up some of the townline chicks. Messed up my whole plan.
