Wow---alot of posting this afternoon. The outdoor b-day party I went to ended up being inside

. The lights flickered on and off I was cracking jokes about them losing electricity-------guess who's power went out and is still out------yepper. I am online with the laptop on battery and dial-up. DTE doesn't even have an estimated time for repairs. If it stays off, DH may have to hook up the generator-----gotta have the bathroom working with 3 kids.

MJ--if you read this, we may not be down to OAofG, depending on our electrical status.

Sorry had to get my birds their evening water and treats.
Cat I was good I only picked up food and a toy for my bourkes. No nest box they where nuts with the price I think I can make my own and it should better fit my bourkes needs.
Hillbilly we on this side of the state need to get together
Oh and the electric water is at the farm store they come out in the fall

Hey, that sounds great. Was actually in Grand Rapids a couple of weeks ago at West MI Heart. I think it will be a while before we go again as hubby is laid off like a lot of people here. However if you are ever up this way let me know.

I will give some thought on the waterer. We managed without it before with chickens and ducks but then we had kids to help with the chores.
I think I finally figured out how to post a photo! Here is the auracana that I think is a roo. Any ideas?

Yep-looks like a roo. Chickflicks was Zsa-Zsa then it became Rocky.

An electric waterer? Where can you get that?

You can order one from Cutler Supply. Nice people, they have the best prices of anyone and they are a Michigan company.

Yes, it was Blueberry's sister. Thanks for the kisses, makes me feel better

. Sophie is now with Chickflick and is fitting in real well with her bantums. She was spending the day alone and now she has a little flock to hang with.

The electric heated waterers are between 30 and 40 dollars and was so nice when it was 30 below here. I never had to worry about leaving for the day with that thing. Not to mention making my morning a lot easier.

FYI... I would get one early and learn how to flip it without spilling it, lol. I was one frustrated, frozen woman, the first few times i tried. I think we had an entire thread in which people talked my uncoordinated self through it, till I caught on, lol.

With most egg breeds by the time a rooster is large enough to butcher they tend to be a little tough. Chicken and dumplings might make a better meal. In fact I often pressure cook the chicken first.

I have that waterer. Its like a 3 gallon water balloon exploding in your face in the middle of a blizzard. There is a knack for flipping it, the top part is very flimsy. I did'nt want to deal with it last winter and just got a heated dog dish. Worked great and it was easier to give the hens freah water each day.
