MJ -- sure. I can tell you what I do. My aunt gave me this "recipe" -- pinch of this pinch of that, ya know. Use a small bag of navy beans, northern, etc. After rinsing put in soup pot and fill with water. Bring beans to boil then add a good amount of chicken soup base, 3 garlic cloves (minced), small onion (chopped), pepper, sage, basil, and a pinch of oregano. I taste the broth and add more soup base if needed. When beans are done I give another sprinkle of sage. Oh can use fresh sage also, just add at the very end when beans are completely done. You want to be able to taste a hint of sage. Sorry there are no measurements. Just adjust to your taste. I do add water as beans cook, you'll probably know what I mean. My aunt went to Italy and brought this recipe back with her. I figure it will taste excellent with a piece of Amish Bread!

My Bean soup is similar, but I add a touch of chilli powder and a couple of teaspoons of Cumin for that nice southwest flavor. Then sprinkle some cheddar cheese on top and your good to go.

Gotta love those Sage plants. My quadrupled in size this year!

hi everyone

Sorry I have been off for a while, found a new video game and have spent last few days figuring it out

I had an anxiety attack today, something that hasn't happened to me in a while so I had to dig for my medicine. Right now I feel like I've got a 5th of captain morgan in my belly so my typing is going to get funny from here on out tonight!!!!!!

I am starting to think I ended up with all Roo's with my coturnix. I've been waiting for them to crow so I can figure out who is male... well this morning I got up to take dear grandbaby to daycare and my tire was flat. Oddly enough, my oversized air compressor tank was finally out of air so I had to fire up the noisy beast. Suddenly ALL of the quail I could see stood upright, stretched to their fullest and started crowing

OK, maybe not everyone, but it was really amusing. My wife gave me a confused look........ I guess my AC sounds like the mating call to those lil rascles. I'd like to see one of my jumbo roo's try to mount that thing though, that would be picture worthy!

while Alaina my 7 year and i was waiting for her bus this afternoon, we found a lot of snails in are drive way, so Alaina got a box and started to put them in and i said wow the ducks would have a feast with these, thinking she would say no you cant feed them to the ducks, she says well they wont live long will they.

so after her bus came, i cleaned the ducks pool and put the snails in and they were gone in about 2 mins, i must have put in about 20 of them,

so that was my fun for the day, and put some of my chick info on the New ID page,

Last summer i gathered alot of info when we first started this, so if you have pics of any of the breeds you can copy my info on MY Page for the chick info.

Ha Ha Opa, Back in the days before all the kids had cable my sister and I would spend hours catching grass hoppers to throw to the chickens. Much more entertaining than Desperate Houswives in my opinion!

Has anyone ever seen Royal Palms as they're growing? Just wondering if the spotted coloring is normal because there's a possibility they're mixed with another type. Thanks!

What does it hurt to look? Better take a cage or two with you. I went to Fowlfest with the same attitude and no intention for buying anything. Didn't need any more birds, in fact had chicks hatching in incubator that day. Come home with two speckled sussex pullets.

Good Morning everyone!

Look at what we got yesterday!

Our friends have 14 new bunnies on their farm so the kids each got to pick out a new one.

My DD couldn't decide so she got 2. My DS (age 13) was too cool to go with us and as soon as we got home he said I want one, so he is getting one today! Big Russ didn't say much probably because I was telling him about the new baby goats they have. I think he was glad it was only bunnies.....for now

Anyway, we are off to TSC to get a really awesome teacher a gift card for a end of the year gift....any teacher that helps my kids with math on her lunch everyday and loves ducks deserves a gift card!
