MJ, remove the flowers from the hostas be they bloom for larger plant growth?
before they bloom right? (i am assuming, which i know can get me in big trouble) yep. the plant is feeding the flower stem and flower. if you whack those off, the plant will then feed the main plant. does that make sense? i can't think of a better way to word it.
understood - yes - didn't realize removing them would boost the mother plant though! thanks!
Laura,
Thanks for the info and the picture. I'm so surprised to see how similar they look. This is my first exposure to EE's so maybe he's not as funny looking as I thought. The picture of your bird as rather handsome, looks like thers hope for my boy!
you're welcome hustonn and brianna. it really helps. those stalks (that is the word i was looking for earlier while being all lazy) really suck the energy up.
my EE roo looks so much like him too! oh my goodness! Flap Jack has a brother and doesn't even know it! (or maybe three or four apparently!)
I am thinking I am going to be firing up my leg of the chicken express either this weekend (if I'm over the flu) or soon into next week. I have some baby quail to deliver in the Lapeer area, and some roo's to pickup in grand rapids. Anybody need me to stop on my way through going either way?

huh I missed a day or two and found this. Laughed out loud for a bit. Obviously I am reading out of context so I am going to go back farther....
